Which section -- a quick glance over isn't showing it.
Are you talking about Section 10-C-3.1? or 22 A through C? Maybe if I keep sub-referencing the various tables et al it'll become apparent?
Again, multiple vendors have been selling for years EVSEs that you claim are violating code now. I...
Huh? My Grizzl-E can be adjusted and is energized with a plug. As are many other EVSEs for sale...
My guess is that because it *could* be set for more than the plug can handle that that part would technically make it violate code. But I'm not sure -- it's not uncommon, and is allowed per...
Yes y, that's a fair argument I guess. Although as someone that designs and sells electrical equipment, if we applied that code provisions, we'd basically have to shut everyone down. Hardly a single piece of industrial equipment for factories et al is installed without something contrary to...
Interesting, I didn't know that their big guy doesn't have that option. Their smaller charger (the one that it comes with) has a slot on the back so that you can wall mount it and plug it into a NEMA 14-50 outlet if you want. That's what I did while I was waiting for a replacement EVSE for my...
You buy the variant of the wall charger with the NEMA 14-50 connector on it (those actually sell in higher quantities than the hardwire variants), or you could use the included Rivian one.
Bottom Line Up Front -- Just install a NEMA 14-50 and call it a day. There's no benefit to a hubble or nicer connector (I use them exclusively at work, but for a home EV install it's counter-productive, imho).
Why a NEMA 14-50?
The 50A is enough speed. I charge ~1-2 times a week, run the...
Both of mine are very low, too low if you ask me (most of the water just runs off the bottom), but I was told by someone that this was by design, so as to be a good neighbor and not put a mist behind us when we do this while driving? I dunno.
It works ok-ish. I keep trying it here and there (I don't really care if it works or not; not a feature I really feel the need for. I'll keep doing most of the driving for now). It definitely ping-pongs in the road much more than it used to.
It's also not really better than when first...
No White Rim, but while I was out in the boonies for a couple of weeks I found that putting the R1T in conserve mode, then setting the ride height to normal boosted my off road efficiency much much more than I thought it would. Big difference in efficiency if you're not actively needing 4WD.
5k miles in, no issues. Tonneau cover can be finicky, but generally works.
I know 6 other Rivian owners in my area, and all of them ZERO issues other than finicky tonneau covers.
The internet is always a biased sample.
Have Tesla solar with power walls. It was a fine experience, and has been working great. Price and financing at the time was unbeatable, and I quoted 5 local companies. All we're significantly.mire expensive for less solar and without batteries (no power when the grid is down if that's the case).
It doesn't "pencil out" as saving any money unless you have some steep ToU rated, or worse.
I have two power walls (they didn't make economic sense, but wrapping them into my solar loan was still less than my average utility bill), and basically except for summer (darn ACs), they power the...
I doubt it's vehicle specific. I'm on a two week camping trip, and have only been opening the frunk twice a day. 45F overnight, 75F days. I turn my phone Bluetooth off when not actively getting into the frunk.
Some days I lose 2 miles, other days 12. Average over the last 11 days is 7 miles...
20% from regen?!? That'd be nuts. I've gotten nowhere near that coming down from multiple mountain passes.
Face it, Regen doesn't really "cycle" the battery in any meaningful way.
EA had two main suppliers for their chargers. One of the suppliers builds good chargers that are reliable. The other supplier....well, didn't. It's largely regional, so some areas have great EA reliability (I've never seen one down or had a single issue across a dozen or so that I've hit, and...
I had condensation for a bit too. Now have a touch of funk smell up front.
I live in a dry place, and airing it out wasn't enough. I eventually just removed everything, wiped all the condensation out, put the divider in the sun for a couple of hours, and then put it all back together...
