This is just awesome. Being able to charge at such high rates will ease the concerns of many and increase the rate of adoption.
However, as I understand, charging at high rates is also not good for batteries' longevity, and that it should be minimized. I don't know much about battery cycles...
High depreciation will come from exterior and interior design IMHO.
Designers and manufacturer's are figuring out what attracts and what does not, and how to best utilize the additional interior space they now have with EVs. I saw couple of private early surveys on general buyers' preferences...
Although I agree that Teslas will hold value, not as much as before probably. Tesla enjoyed the fruits of their very hard work for ten years by bringing innovation no one else did. However, that is changing now.
The legacy automakers now believe in EV, so much so that Ford is making an...
You certainly make good points, thank you.
However, my speculation is a bit different. The Raptor will hold value, because it has a very loyal and classic user base. A good portion of that loyal base despise EVs to surprising levels, I don’t think the off-road community will be switching to EVs...
I do hope that everyone who has been waiting for a long time get their vehicle in one shape or another. It would be a great Christmas present to all the families for sure.
What I am curious about is companies, and their representatives, that have significant experience in automotive...
I am glad that they picked the Lucid. The level of engineering that is packed into that car is something I admire.
The level of efficiencies Lucid was able to extract from every part of the vehicle appears to be just superb. It is not just the packaging of the batteries, but how carefully the...
22s will look superb, I think, and likely improve lateral performance slightly. Getting the 22s at the same price as the 20s is a good deal if you plan to swap wheel/tires between daily driving and adventure-seeking activities. It is cheaper to buy 20s aftermarket.
However, the bigger issue is...
I don't think investors are really worried about cost at this point. For the valuation to make sense, Rivian has to generate $8B revenue by 2025. As large as the EV market is, and related services are today, I am having a hard time visualizing that for Rivian.
In the end, every manufacturer...
@Coast2Coast thank you for a review that I can relate. I can certainly understand your comparison to the Tacoma, and in offroad situations, the R1T may not be the entire answer, or at least it is a mixed message for me. Mechanical capabilities vs. technology, I really am having a hard time...
I have had Land Cruisers for over 20 years, never had any issues with water leaks of any kind. Toyota always had a close relationship with its offroad customer base, they listen carefully, and selectively incorporate their wishes. The first two requirements for them are always reliability and...
I just came across the following, which I find to be interesting. As we know the center of gravity (CG) is low, but the difference compared to an ICE truck is dramatic. Although the specific measurement is not given, it appears to be better than most ICE cars as well. I just wish it was more...
Thank you for your reply. I do, however, struggle to understand one of your points.
First of all, not everything has to be a race between companies or products. I posted that note in the spirit of an update the new Lucid owner mentioned as a win and accomplishment for a brand new American auto...
I am with @kanundrum on this. The perceived value of the R1 will be lower (I suspect, far lower) in the used car market with its current architecture. Rivian could have chosen to use the 900-volt architecture and they did not, or possible could not. Compared to the competition in 3-5 years...
One of the first people who took delivery of their Dream, on his way home, used a 350kW charger and it took 25 mins to get to 300 mi of additional charge.
I think the range anxiety will disappear for the most part with the 900-volt architecture.
Here is another "communications" experience for comparison purposes, although admittedly not entirely apples to apples:
Calling Ford Performance (FP), late September:
...wait time: 30 secs, live person answers the call.
Me: "When do you think I might be able to place an order for a 2022...
