  1. The day finally came! Official R1T owner

Gives me hope on my Jan 22 order.....
  2. Regen in conserve vs AP

I will offer the simple answer to help understand it and then look at the physics.... Simple analogy, remember riding your bike as a kid... Which brake felt stronger front or back? Physics answer.... When you use brakes the vehicle weight shifts forward due to inertia. This puts more weight...
  3. Rivians Are Not Avaiable in All Areas

I did reserve much later than you. January 22. I have seen two near Eglin AFB. One ElCap one white
  4. Rivians Are Not Avaiable in All Areas

This is potentially disappointing since I live right down the road from you.
  5. Spare Tire / Reinforced Underbody

I guess I would offer to you that by expecting a spare, you increase the price of the "standard configuration" and force those that prefer not to have one to pay for one anyway... The buy it if you want it approach is best... Additionally in an EV if you are trying to maximize range you want to...
  6. Missed opportunity, solar tonneau and hood?

No way that care gets 70kWh per day... I have 43 330W solar panels and I barely get that in FL....
  7. Charging at an off-grid Cabin (electrical advice)

There will not be a problem if your generator provides less power... Biggest issue you might see is if the generator power is noisy but the charger should tolerate it OK.... Do not put in a 14-50 if the wires will not support it.... If you wired for 30Amps, do not put in a 50A breaker...
  8. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

honestly, I think you city inspector is wrong. But not for me to say. I’d consider a second opinion
  9. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

I stand corrected but I would of asked him the follow up question of how fits that affect my up stream main breaker? At some point, you have the issue the sum being greater than the feeder breaker. No way to avoid it.
  10. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

I cannot find an example of a breaker failing closed.... Given the bimetal plate construction and the physics of heating, it is hard to imagine one failing closed. Maybe there is a distinction for hard wired appliances but you have redundancy by the fact that you have a sub panel down stream...
  11. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

First let me say that I find this conversation interesting and am not being argumentative... I wanted to make the point because tone is lost in typed language and I did not want to come across wrong.... To your last sentence, breakers are designed to fail open since they are designed to protect...
  12. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

that is what you get by having the feeder to a sub panel and putting two breakers in there. If you turn them both on something will trip. Just like if you turned on everything in your house something would trip. i could be wrong but I do not think I am.
  13. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

I will certainly be interested in what he hears, but it is very common to have the sum of down stream breakers exceed the feeder breaker. The requirement is that the breaker be sized for the wire it is protecting. Cheers
  14. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

You have a 200A service at your house.... Add up all the other breakers.... Likely more than 200.. The first 60A breaker protects all the common wire leg. The sub panel 60A breaker protects its wires... The subpanel 40A protects its wires... If you use both at the same time the 60A in the main...
  15. Home Charger Wiring, Does This Work?

If he is only going to use one at a time, he could have a 60A breaker in the main feeding a sub panel with a 60A and a 40A. You do not have to sum the down stream breakers....
  16. Manchin says expanded EV tax credit is dead

Manchin is one of the best in the Senate... Votes his conscience and not party line.... My guess is those that do not like him want him to vote with his party and not with his brain
  17. Rivian announces: No more configurator builder upon reserving a Rivian

I do not think this is accurate at all... I am sure they have to hold the reservation deposit in escrow... It would still be there if things went south I imagine..... To your second question, not quoting a price is a very good way of avoiding the "bruhaha"; they are not committing to a...
