Quick update. I returned the R1S on May 19th and received the refund check on June 23rd.
Rivian doesn't appear to be doing anything with the returned vehicle. I can tell because 2 months later it's still linked to my phone and I can see how the car has been sitting in a parking lot in San Jose...
No, they will not reimburse you for anything other than the purchase cost of the car. Interest payments, insurance payments, Uber rides or rental cars are your responsibility.
FWIW, when I returned my car, at no point did Rivian ask, how can we make this right? or are you interested in a...
I asked to return my R1S within 2 days of delivery because of paint issues I discovered and Rivian did not object. They refund 100% of the cost of the vehicle (incl. taxes and fees) according to the repurchase agreement I signed. That said, I returned the car on 5/19 and I still haven't received...
I think the general rule of thumb is that you need to add 10 miles for every 1,000 feet of elevation.
In your case, that means that you'd need about 260 miles of range to get to Tahoe City.
I took delivery of my R1S yesterday (5/16), and today I noticed some weird spots in the paint while the car was sitting in full sun.
The spots are 5 to 6 inches in diameter. Can anybody identify what those spots are and whether they can be fixed easily?
The car also has a few panel gap issues...
To be fair, my R1S is now allegedly at my local service center in San Jose, so Rivian will meet its latest delivery window estimate (April-May 2023). It's been a long time since that email saying "R1S deliveries will begin August 2021", but delays in the current environment are understandable. I...
LOL. I ordered on 12/4/18 and I still don't have mine, even though similar configurations have been delivered since March, including to people who reserved in 2020. Oh well...
If you're considering the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tire, you might want to wait for the M/S 2 coming later this year. Otherwise, other good options include the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 and the Falken Ziex CT60.
I have no experience with this 3-ton low-profile floor jack from Harbor Freight but it seems to have good reviews online and it's on sale for $130. Its maximum lift height is 20", which should be good enough for the R1S & R1T.
Falken also makes the Rubitrek A/T tire. It's similar to the Wildpeak but with better on-road manners. It's available in the 275/60R20 and LT275/65R20 sizes.
My opinion doesn't matter as colors are a personal choice. There's no wrong answer. Personally, if Rivian Blue or Canyon Red actually looked like they do in pictures, I'd be happy with either one. All shades of gray (Midnight, El Cap, Limestone, LA Silver, Glacier White) look fine to me; I'd be...
Having seen all the colors in person on multiple occasions, I think they missed the mark on the blue (too flat, too light) and the red (too orange/salmon; they should've gone with something like the Tesla Ultra Red).
I love blue as a color so much so that I ordered my Model S with a custom color...
I'm considering getting jack pucks too but I'm not sure why you would need 4 of them (maybe b/c your tire shop doesn't have its own set?). Don't you need only one for a 5-tire rotation, or 2 for a 4-tire rotation?
I lost access over a week ago but no email from Rivian yet. Another week or month won't matter much after such a long wait. I'm glad I didn't settle for BM though, OC looks fantastic. Congrats to all who've taken delivery so far.
