  1. 3rd party wall chargers ok or not?

All models of Grizzl-E chargers can operate in ā€œdumbā€ mode automatically when offline. In this case vehicle takes full control communicating with charger.
  2. 3rd party wall chargers ok or not?

Grizzl-E mini, 40A, 50A breaker, comes with multiple adapters for 120V-240V outlets, built tough. Zero issues so far over a year. Bring it along to different locations on the go. For overnight charging my max pack I often only need to use 20-30A. Happy with it.
  3. 30-day no-use // how much battery drain?

Parked in my own garage for past 4 days with nothing on, no motion or live cams. Where’s almost 15 kWh gone?
  4. 2025.46 Update (Release Notes). OTA pushing out now!

I like UHF despite its limitations. But I’m always wondering aside hands free part what are its functions beyond Adaptive Cruise Control + Lane Centering? Here’re couple I noticed as a starter: 1. For certain tight curves ahead it will slow down appropriately with overlay of arrows on blue line...
  5. 2025.46 Update - Review (Gen 2 & Gen 1 Owner)

Gen2 here. Don’t want to sound negative because I like UHF in general. Love Universal part but I think ā€œcruise controlā€ part is more of hassle in back roads where speed changes are almost mandatory thus causing too many disengagements. Best solution—make ā€œcruise controlā€ part defeat-able and...
  6. Universal Hands-Free can kill you! (If you don’t read release notes)

I seriously didn’t realize pancakes can kill you until reading Yellowface. Then I realize lots of things in life can kill, bikes, extension cords, knives, scissors and of course choking by random food. Just be careful out there using lots of common sense.
  7. RJ on CarPlay (Autoblog Post / Stratechery Interview)

Here is my workaround to use my essential apps for driving. I made a page in iPhone just for the road and put phone on a charging holder to left of driver screen: Podcast TuneIn Google map Apple map Amazon Music YouTube Music Ask Alexa
  8. 2025.46 Update (Release Notes). OTA pushing out now!

2026 Gen2 R1S dual max with .46 update here. Just started charging using Grizzl-E Mini 40 amp charger. It seems doing as usual at maximum 40 amp. So this bug affects certain vehicles only. R1S is charging at 8.8kw.
  9. RJ on CarPlay (Autoblog Post / Stratechery Interview)

It makes you think that Rivian software team really does not understand how digital media works between devices a modern person possesses. All devices need to be in sync — this is NOT a new concept in year of 2025! Judging from how poorly they execute audio system after Meridian, they simply are...
  10. 2025.46 Update (Release Notes). OTA pushing out now!

After couple of hours with UHF here are some impressions of some good and some to be improved: 1. Nice automatic slow down for tight curves. 2. Being cautious and braking for pedestrian walking in shoulder 3. Anticipating stopped vehicle at red light with easier approach 4. General sense of...
  11. RJ on CarPlay (Autoblog Post / Stratechery Interview)

Talking about playing music you already paid for, what about playing music via USB drive. Such a simple application! A terabyte USB drive with hundreds of albums of my favorite music will provide high quality playback with or without cell signals especially when off roading which is Rivian meant...
  12. RJ on CarPlay (Autoblog Post / Stratechery Interview)

AA/CP is nothing more than a peek window to your phone where ALL your digital life resides. It has very little to do with Rivian’s unified interface. Just like Apple iPhone is a unified interface that allow tens of thousands 3rd party app developers to contribute to the platform. Imagine iPhone...
  13. Osborne Schmozborne

Rivian G2 hardware suite has huge room to grow just by software updates. Refinements to UHF to reach what Tesla is capable of today will take at least a year if not two. From ā€˜glorified cruise controlā€˜ to ā€˜point to point’ there’s huge learning curve! By that time G3 will be ready for mass...

For Supervised Autonomy vision only approach is already doing a fine job. For Unsupervised and Driverless/Monitorless Autonomy at Scale, multi sensor is right approach that includes Radar, LiDAR. I got this understanding by watching the speed of Tesla commercialization of its...
  15. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Wishes for fine tuning ADAS controls. Current functions: Flick right stalk towards you ā€œturn on cruise controlā€; double flick ā€œturn on hands-offā€ Suggested functions: Change these gestures into toggle switches, so flick once ā€œturn on cruise controlā€, and flick once again ā€œturn off cruise...
  16. Unlocked charging plug while still charging

I have been driving an Ioniq 5 for over two years. Issuing door unlock command (from app, FOB or button on doors) will unlock charging gun from vehicle, AC or DC sessions, even if doors are already unlocked. That’s what I’ve been doing with my R1S I think. Never questioned it.
  17. Charging Error - Unplug and Retry Again

Very similar experience here. 20° tonight after a successful charging at a Tesla universal destination charger at 10.8kw speed for 2 hours, I arrived at home one hour later and plunged in and got this error. Soft reboot didn’t work but a hard reboot (left+hazard) cleared the problem.
  18. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Wassym also needs to test drive Xiaomi SU7.
  19. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

Yes I have vision+sound option and all OTAs upto date. You’re right at low volume it’s definitely more tolerable. I’ll give it a try, thanks.
