  1. HVAC default, why aren't the vents open?

I’m fairly new to Rivian about 2 months. And I have been driving an Ioniq 5 for 2 and half years. One interesting thing I noticed that during entire time with Ioniq I never really seemed to need to fiddle with HVAC — auto mostly, feel chilly up temp a bit. fan stays low — that’s it for over two...
  2. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

Yes I did hear discussion about phase issues. But my listening experience does point to other worse problems. It seems to me between 500hz to 3000hz or so frequency band there is a ā€œhornā€ like resonance sound, which indicates speakers are not tuned correctly against cabin space to eliminate that...
  3. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

I think we need to focus on R1S gen2 here. These are issues specifically related to this vehicle, not gen1 especially not R1T! I have had almost identical experience with OP. Software latency and suspension behavior are two huge issues, not to mention that bad audio sound! I have driven F150...
  4. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Vehicle should not start climate every time door is opened but start it after you put foot on brake ready to drive. Save lots of energy.
  5. Rivian in cold weather

Just did same trip of around 350 miles to Maine as I did in October when I had done whole trip without charging with 50 miles to spare at destination. But yesterday with temperatures between 30°- 40°, I would have done it again with 0% on arrival but I opted to have one charge at supercharger...
  6. Rivian May Be Much Closer to FSD Than You Think

But I thought the whole point of vision+neuronet approach which led to recent breakthrough is to not rely on rule based HD maps and let monitor lens on vehicle see environment as human in realtime and neuronet processes in realtime. HD map is not singularly crucial any ways in current...
  7. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

I think it's because you setup in car screen "behavior" to be unlock all doors. But once you setup to be unlock driver door only, there's no way to unlock all doors in app. In real life people may choose unlock driver door only as it's safer especially in urban or night situation. But once in a...
  8. Rivian May Be Much Closer to FSD Than You Think

Elon said he was expecting Tesla robotaxis to be available to "probably half of the population of the U.S." by the end of 2025 according to electrek July 23 2025 article. Is this just rumor or Tesla has a chance to achieve it? In October Elon stated that Tasla aimed to have 500 robotaxis in...
  9. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Yes. What about Battery temperature 12V battery status Recent trips info and efficiency Lifetime efficiency Since last charge efficiency Lifetime charging total and discharge total Since last charging discharge total These are not frivolous bits of information. They let us know how...
  10. Phone key pet peeve.

I like response time of FOB, instant, consistent and predictable. If you can’t match FOB’s functionality, don’t make it optional.
  11. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Interesting. The legacy auto Toyota RAV4 Prime does this perfectly too! But Hyundai and Rivian, EV power houses have no clue how to accomplish this. With my Toyota after you plugged in, it started charging very briefly to register charging power and time required, then it stopped charging and...
  12. Phone key pet peeve.

Rivian software has massive latency problem. It’s much faster to wake up a modern computer than a slumbering Rivian. She doesn’t respond to Bluetooth when having sweet dreams.
  13. Rivian in cold weather

About your Chicago concert trips in cold weather and with Max pack, it all boils down to that one charging stop you need to figure out strategically. I think a stop before concert is a good one since you have plenty of time to precondition to a battery already not so cold with 2 hour driving...
  14. Rivian May Be Much Closer to FSD Than You Think

Totally agreed about Hyundai/Kia ADAS implementation being much better and practical for real world driving than Rivian. It does not simply quit whether mapped or not and that’s huge in relieving long drive tedium. Rivian needs to understand not just to ā€˜demonstrate’ but to solve real issues for...
  15. Software updates that should be here by now.

Agreed. Don’t follow blindly Tesla when you can’t code like Tesla. Lots of good things can be learned from traditional automakers too like, odometer, door handles, no squeaky noises, climate adjustments. Rivian is a solid car, all controls should have same feel — tangible, robust.
  16. iPhone 17 pro Proximity unlock with gen2 r1s

It happened to me randomly a few times. Usually I just open or re-open Rivian app in iPhone to solve the problem without touching Bluetooth connection. In general PAAK implementation is a mess. It’s sluggish, random and unpredictable. I did not notice any improvement after 38.30 update. My last...
  17. Rivian Switching from Alexa to Google Gemini - Bringing Voice / Text Integration (reported by RivianTracker)

Ok let me try this way. Android Auto is a subset of features and capabilities of your android phone that are considered appropriate for use on display in your auto. šŸ˜‚

🤣🤣 probably coincidence, driving past Berkshire downhill on I-90 on my last trip.

DC fast charging is one important aspect of EV road tripping especially in winter times. Provide drivers with more relevant info to reduce anxiety. Here is BMW upcoming iX3 charging screen that shows how much your EV can take in max vs charging station is able to give max. Very important.
  20. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Start this topic for people to show things that bug them but Rivian can improve without spending buckets of money. Font sizes on displays. Some information are so important that drivers check often when driving. They need to be larger and more eye catching. Design vs Utility issue.
