Actually, things put in the receiver are the worst thing for safety. That transfers ALL of the energy of the impact directly to the structure of the vehicle. So your body feels the entire impact as well as the rest of the vehicle. Can result in personal injury very quickly or structure...

Sadly, Rivian had talked about making a bluetooth version that tied into the vehicle so it was just place and go without interfering with the accessory plug shenanigans.... just like the myriad of other items they make patents for, show prototypes and never do....
It's the one Rivian sold in the gear shop for a hot minute then had to pull them because they had a huge number of non-functioning units (wired to always on). It was a wired unit, so you can make/find a similar unit pretty easily.
No XM antenna in the R2. If it's that important, just grab a portable unit with Bluetooth and call it a day.
