Discount Tire is who Iāve reached out toā¦.two different locations (my local store) and one near Plymouth, MI where Rivian has a big location and there are a fair number of Rivians. No go on either one unless I provide my own pucks.
Why canāt all these car manufacturers agree on a standard...
Just rolled over 10K miles on my R1T (May 2022, delivery) and thought I should get the tires rotated and balanced. Scheduled an appointment with a national tire chain then followed up with a phone call to them and they confirmed they could do the work on a Rivian. Got to the store today and...
Unfortunately, that is sometimes the way EA chargers behave. Is the outside temp high? Did you use the in-truck navigation to get to the charger?
Iāve found that if the outside temp is high, EA chargers tend to rate limit. If you didnāt navigate to the charger with the nav system, truck...
Way too many variables to try and isolate how preconditioning would impact charging. Battery temp, state of charger, outside temp, charger conditions, etc. would all come into play. This is one of those where I just trust the vehicle and the software/battery engineers.
For the most part, we had no issues easily driving 200+ miles. However, biologically, we would tend to need/want to stop every 2-2.5 hours. As the trip progressed, we were intentionally stopping more frequently to make sure we maintained an appropriate level of charge to protect ourselves if a...
On my recent road trip from MI to CO, it would usually start to precondition about an hour before hitting every charger. Considering we were running in temps in the mid-90ās, this makes sense as it probably take a fair amount of time to cool down the batteries. Not only is the cooling having...
Here are my thoughts on this trip (will do the reverse back to MI in a few days). Iām glad we drove out and did the road trip. Yes, there were some issues, but we made it. Iām guessing we probably added about 3-4 hours overall to the actual trip. We did a 1000 mile trip in July from mid-MI...
And hereās the final data update. This is the data for the run from FairPlay up over Cottonwood Pass and down to our destination.
And hereās the overall trip data (Saginaw, MI to Almont, CO).
The final run down from Cottonwood Pass was fun. We managed to make a perfect green efficiency graph and actually gained roughly 5 miles while driving something like 12 miles.
Was nice seeing this green graph for most of the run down to our destination.
We crossed the Continental Divide using Cottonwood pass. Hereās what the efficiency looked like making the climb from Buena Vista, CO (7,965 feet elevation) to the top of the pass (12,126 feet elevation)
Hereās the Arvada to Fairplay leg. Some up and down in elevation but relatively level running.
Stopped at Fairplay to charge up. Nice Chargepoint chargers that worked well and charged quickly.
At the EVgo charger in Arvada, CO (King Sooper). Impressed with their equipment and ease of starting charge.
Hereās the efficiency data for the Fort Morgan, CO to Arvada leg.
