  1. Snow Driving And Regen Braking

Haven't driven my R1T in snow (yet) but with my Tesla Model S, it worked fine. I never reduced my regen setting. You learn how to moderate the accelerator to hit the sweet spot where you're basically coasting (neither adding power nor having region kick in very much). I imagine the R1T is...
  2. E-mail from Rivian 9/30 announcing Key Band delivery

Received mine yesterday. Sort of disappointed for a couple of reasons: 1. Was just a wristband in an envelope. No instructions on how to add it to the vehicle. Not thank you for waiting, etc. I quickly figured out how to add it, but some quick instructions would have been nice. 2. Band is...
  3. Don't Use USAA insurance for your Rivian

I got a quote from Nationwide (Rivian’s insurance partner) and their quote for home, auto, and umbrella was competitive with USAA and the R1T. Because of USAA’s declining customer service and my own poor experience with their banking, I ended up moving all my insurance and banking services to...
  4. Planning First Trip - Everything Depends on ONE Charger

Choose to believe what you will, but from actual experience traveling and hooking up at a vacation home, I was able to add about 50 miles per 24 hours hooked up to a 110v. I’m sure an electrical engineer can calculate a better rate knowing that it is a 110v circuit likely on a 15 amp breaker...
  5. Electrify America charging issues, truck was culprit...

I had a similar problem on my road trip this summer. Turns out, a failed EA charger at an earlier stop "corrupted" the communications module used during the charging process. Finally figured it out after trying three other charging stations and then calling Rivian. Rivian had me do a hard...
  6. How are phone calls and texts handled?

I hear what you’re saying. I think the difference there is theoretically, the passenger would also be observant of what’s going on and could help warn of a slowdown, etc.
  7. How are phone calls and texts handled?

There are studies out there that do show talking on the phone (and probably listening/transcribing a text) is very distracting. I know there have been times when I've been so engaged in a personal phone call that I wasn't paying as much attention to my driving as I should have been. So, I can...
  8. Any recommendations for Denver to Detroit?

I made the opposite trip (mid-MI to western slopes) this summer. Make sure you check out charging stations via PlugShare. Last I saw, the Ogallala, NE charging station was a POS. My experience is that the stations in NE were somewhat more problematic than other states. On the return, I did...
  9. How are phone calls and texts handled?

My employer specifically prohibits taking work calls or texts while driving. Quite frankly, I don't understand how reading a text on the screen is anywhere close to be safe. There are enough distractions in cars today, we don't need another one. There are active programs to discourage texting...
  10. First EV drive: 500 mile trip home - first impressions

It happens on some high travel days or when EA detects issues with chargers. Totally random as far as I can tell. No way to search for complimentary charging in the app. Not able to enter intermediate waypoints at this time. Hopefully this will be an OTA enhancement someday. Not missing a...
  11. E-mail from Rivian 9/30 announcing Key Band delivery

Received email today also. Not sure I’ll be using it as I’m satisfied with PAAK and carry key card as backup.
  12. Delivery Nightmare....Ongoing

I can empathize with you. Very frustrating series of events. However, I will say that the truck is worth it and hopefully you will love it once it is delivered. Even if you don’t love It, you can turn around and sell it and at least break even if not make a profit.
  13. Horn - Needs work!

Why do you need a visual indicator for the horn? Don’t you know when you’re pushing on the center of the steering wheel? I’m really not trying to be snarky, don’t understand why a visual indicator is needed. What other cars have one?
  14. Question... no "Controls" on my Rivian App

You might try a soft reboot on the vehicle (hold outermost left buttons on both sides of the steering wheel controls).
  15. Planning First Trip - Everything Depends on ONE Charger

Can you plug into a 110v plug while you’re at your destination? That is usually good for about 50 miles a day.
  16. MIA Guide

My last email exchange with my guide took 18 days for her to reply to my e-mail. She admitted she (they?) are overwhelmed. I had asked her a question about tire rotations and getting additional pucks. So, not critical and not related to vehicle delivery so I may have been prioritized lower...
  17. Tire Rotation and Balance

Thought I'd provide an update. Logged a service request via the app on 8/31. On 9/6, received a phone call from Rivian stating they were looking to see if they could do this mobile (????), and they needed to reach out to the service center at Plymouth, MI (my nearest center) to see when it...
  18. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

Minor data point here. R1T sitting in driveway at home with mild temps….low 80’s yesterday afternoon down to mid 50’s last night. GG off (at home), PAAK on, SW version 2022.31.5. Lost 1% in the last 24 hours.
  19. Tailgate not popping open with button

Same issue when mine was delivered. Logged a service issue and they adjusted.
  20. Does Rivian have a power button?

You only have to tap on the inside of the door if you don’t climb in and press the brake pedal within 60 seconds of unlocking the truck with the keycard.
