I think this is the part that truly gets me. I can understand that for $800, they weren't working with a ton of budget for materials and R&D. And for $800, I still think what I received is........ fine.
My other gripe is that they chose to make it impossible to retrofit the powered tonneau...
That's fair. And I wonder if Rivian would even honor replacement under warranty, or if they'd blame you for allowing snow to accumulate "outside of normal parameters" lol.
It sounds like the aftermarket tonneau covers are not.a slam-dunk win either though. The interrobang (imo the best alternative) panels don't interlock, the pieces are not all the same size, and there is no good storage solution for it. It also doesn't inherit the full vehicle warranty...
Obviously take this with a grain of salt since I am not methodically validating this: my gut feel from pushing down with my hand and flexing it, is that it would take someone vigorously jumping on it with their body weight to actually get through the cover.
Pushing down on it by hand or even...
I felt ok putting some light tools (socket set, hand tools), and Costco groceries on top of it for a few minutes.
But I wouldn't put real mass on top. Probably wouldn't even put a bike on it. Definitely not going to be walking around on it or anything.
It's the same with my R1T. I have been hearing about it from my wife and MIL :).
It feels especially jarring given how well-absorbed bumps are when approaching them head-on.
I had assumed this is an artifact of the fancy hydraulic cross-link in the suspension that makes the truck handle so...
I also filed a ticket for it and was also told by the SC that it was normal, that the cables are redundant, and they were not going to fix it.
I too, would love to be able to adjust it myself.
You're exactly right: the honest truth is the OEM Rivian all weather mats are terrible. I returned mine as soon as I received them.
1) The edges had a chewed look on them like they were torn out of the mold.
2) The fitment wasn't very good.
3) They shipped to me totally warped (possibly this...
I just received and installed these all-weather floor mats from RiviGear.
MSRP: $99.99, and there's a -10% off coupon on Amazon right now, so I got it for $90...
I have this issue and I had filed a service ticket for it.
I was told by Rivian Service that this is a known issue, but there is no known solution to address it at this time, and told me they would file this ticket away until they let me know they've identified a solution.
...I just saw...
Yep, happened to me a couple months ago. Came out to the truck one morning to find it that way on the drive to work: blinker sound, navigation, music, all gone, save for the muffled subwoofer output.
Fixed itself after a sleep reset.
