I'm late to the party -- so just to recap, there is really no true ignition fuse anyone has found that actually powers up when you put the car into drive?
good point.
my last EV was an audi which gave you efficiency per trip and kept that data for the life of the car. it was very easy to see your efficiency progressively drop as it got a bit colder out and then plummet in the dead of winter. it’s a good way to manage expectations of the...
you seem to really be discounting the effect of cold weather. you can expect a ~25% reduction in range in cold weather. unfortunately this is not an exaggeration.
is this your first fall/winter with an EV?
I went with the x-ice snow. i wasn't too bothered by the 115 SL load rating vs 116 XL which came stock on my R1S since rivian used to provide 115 SL Pirellis with earlier builds of the R1S.
Do you plan on doing a lot of towing in winter?
For us who were not involved in this at all it can come off as a lot of "he said she said".
But at the end of the day, that is simply a poorly done job for $7k. It sounds like they are agreeing it was rushed and they had too little time to do it correctly....yet they still charged you $7k and...
You are right. I had to call tire rack a few times because they also wouldn’t sell me the X ice snows in 275/60R20 115 initially because of the load rating until i found documentation that earlier rivian shipped with 115 SL tires. they reviewed it and came to the conclusion it was safe and...
there’s really no difference. i went with the ones from tire rack for my winter setup so they could just install them. they were third party, $70 each
Thanks for posting that! Incredibly cool to hear directly from them it's being worked on. that video was from late April it seems. So hopefully we'll have it this winter!
