It seems that poll threads require a vote to see the poll results. That shouldn't be the case for obvious reasons. Can this be easily fixed? It will help provide more accurate poll results if the poll results are visible without voting.
My Grand Cherokee is more than 5,000 lbs. Its far from a tin can. The mass of the vehicle isn't aiding in high speed stability. Like a Rivian, it's a brick. SUVs aren't aerodynamic, especially when they are square in shape. The suspension isn't made for high speed stability. Hell, the alignment...
True, but 110 mph is already reached before the end of a quarter mile. So in that case, anyone running a Rivian at a quarter mile drag strip will absolutely need to be in launch mode in order to complete a quarter mile run without the vehicle hitting the top speed limit.
No matter what, you simply can't get around the mass of an R1. That's the main issue. It's a large, heavy brick that you're trying to push through the air. I really would've want to drive an R1 any faster than I've driven my Grand Cherokee, which was 113 mph. It's not a great experience simple...
I'm not sure of your real world experience, but I'll just say that I completely disagree. A largish, heavy, higher riding SUV just isn't built for top speed, no matter how you slice it. In fairness, a Civic isn't exactly built for top speed either, but at least it's a much lighter, lower vehicle...
LOL, my mental health is just fine. And for what it's worth, I haven't lived in NJ very long. A job opportunity/transfer landed me here. On a side note, I'm a little surprised how many Rivian people are soft. I mean really soft, like a plushy doll. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
From everything I've seen, Rivian is not better than a purpose built offroad vehicle. They aren't even as good as a purpose built offroad vehicle. Hell, they aren't even in the same class as something like a Wrangler or a Bronco. For me, if a Rivian is as good as a 4Runner or Grand Cherokee...
What I was saying is that Kyle eventually put his foot to the floor in an attempt to get his Rivian moving. He didn't just floor it immediately. He was unable to get his quad motor to send power to the wheels that had traction. Instead, the vehicle acted like a 4wd with open diffs, sending power...
I'd make the argument that the road is often full of true morons who are far more unsafe because of poor driving than someone who habitually speeds. If anything, enthusiasts who speed tend to be more highly skilled drivers than most of the brain-dead morons who roam our highways.
No matter how...
That's kind of a silly example, to be honest. If you need to exceed 110 mph to pass someone going 70 mph, then something's very wrong. You can pass someone fairly quickly with no more than a 20 mph speed differential. And that's being generous.
To be honest, those kind of speeds on public roads are stupid. I've done it myself, but again, pure stupidity. But even so, I'd rather do 139 mph in a Civic than 110 mph in a Rivian. I got my Jeep up to 113 mph on a highway one time and it wasn't a great feeling. I hit 168 mph in my Audi (and...
Relatively recently? It's been more than 50 years that Audi vehicles have been sold in the North American market. They started along with Porsche as one of VW's divisions/brands right arounds 1970. As a kid, I remember their headquarters in NJ, not far from where I lived.
