Stand-by generators (like my Generac) automatically run for a few minutes (they call it exercise) once a week to ensure that it's always ready. It also has a status LED that shows green/amber/red on the outside of the housing. This indicates if the generator is ready to run (green), will run but...
Why replace it at all? My 22kw Generac stand-by generator is now approaching 10 years old and has a life expectancy of 3,000 hours run time (which is very conservative, by the way). It's currently just under 300 hours of run time. It's big enough to power my entire house and comes on...
LOL, I posted something similar in my "Does anyone else hate Gary" thread. The whole cartoonish thing Rivian has going on is a bit disappointing for a tech company, but I guess a lot of people prefer it, so to each their own, I suppose.
Having Waze would help, but it's not exactly a game changer. CP/AA offers so much more than just Waze. But the point of my comment is that this discussion keeps coming up over and over and over again on this forum. And that in itself just proves that Rivian should bite the bullet and include it...
I absolutely rely on Waze for every road trip I take. I like to drive faster than average speeds, so Waze to me is about a hundred times better than having a radar detector.
Yet another thread on CP/AA.....just helps prove that Rivian should offer it. This comes up time and time again and the fact of the matter is that the majority wants it. So if it never comes to Rivian, that's fine, but it will most definitely cost them sales because there are people out there...
I find heat-blocking window film really interesting. I've seen how well it works in person and it's a remarkable difference. However, I'm not sure how heat blocking window film may or may not contribute to glass breakage in extreme temperatures. Or whether a film application could potentially...
The concept of the Dynamic roof is pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing, but in all honesty, Rivian should have just done a tinted glass roof with a retractable fabric shade like every other manufacturer. It's great to want to be different, but not when it comes to basic functionality...
Keep in mind that people running at a 1/4 mile track rarely have unmodified cars. It's a piece of cake these days to take any forced induction car and add a ton a power to it with nothing more than a tune.
The Grand Cherokee doesn't have a real high center of gravity. It may not be as low as an EV with the weight of the battery mounted down low, but the fact of the matter is that neither vehicle is built for high speed.
But just in case you didn't know, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a 180 mph...
I actually use coordinates all the time, even for regular destinations. The reason being, it's really pin point accurate and sometimes using an address can be hit or miss. On my Jeep, I can keep the navigation on the center screen and then show all of the offroad page stuff on the instrument...
Depends upon the terrain, but it's typically more like 10 to 12 mpg on the trails. And even then, that's why they make jerry cans. Some day I think they'll make an electric equivalent to a jerry can for offroad EVs. Until then, I have to say that ICE offroaders are still far less limited in...
That's a great point. My Jeep has the breadcrumb feature too and I've found it very valuable when out on unmarked maze of trails. Rivian should definitely add that functionality to their system since they market it as an adventure vehicle. Another really cool thing Jeep does is allow you to...
Okay, fair enough. The issue is that someone may vote just to see the results when that person shouldn't have voted on the poll in the first place. Not everyone on the forum owns a Rivian.
I'm glad it exists too just because it gives people more choice for an EV truck and while that may not be the best thing for Rivian specifically, it's good to help the advancement/adoption of EVs into the future. But honestly though, the Cybertruck to my eyes is still an extremely ugly POS and I...
