Let's keep this in perspective though.....virtually any manufacturer can and will make some vehicles that have issues, even big issues. That's why lemon laws exist. If the problems aren't sorted out for the consumer, then they are protected against any significant loss. It's still annoying to...
The vast majority of off-road ICE vehicles are automatic transmission vehicles. Manual transmission vehicles aren't as well suited for rock crawling. As for torque at low RPM, it completely depends on the engine. My car makes maximum torque at 1,500 RPM and maintains that torque through 4,800...
ICE is never near zero RPM unless the engine isn't running. And let's not forget that ICE can increase in RPM with a press on the accelerator even if the vehicle itself isn't moving.
And it's not even so much power as it is torque that matters. Sure, getting traction at the wheels with grip matters, but having torque matters too. That's why ICE off-roaders have transfer cases with low gear. If you do the math, the amount of torque to the wheels is crazy.
ATRAC is good, but it's still no better than what you get in a Quadradrive II Jeep or a Land Rover. They all work in the same way and are basically the same thing.
Incorrect. You aren't stating fact, you're stating opinions. If you think that you know the "ONLY" reason anyone still drives ICE vehicles, then there's not much more to debate here because you're intellectually dishonest. Either that, or you're completely clueless. Either way, you should at...
If the goal is to sell cars, then you have to give people what they want. This feature is too important to ignore. Too many people will look elsewhere, especially as they start to get more options. It's a losing strategy.
Studies have shown that 35% of new car buyers won't consider buying a new vehicle that doesn't have CP/AA.
Not good, Rivian. If you refuse to give the people a feature that so many consider a deal breaker, you're only hurting yourself.
Oh boy....where to start? My claim was based upon my experiences. Notice that I said that I never had one fail right after I said that they don't fail. See the implication? Nothing is 100% perfect in the world.
Mushroom plugs are silicone rubber. Yes, rubber. Mushroom plugs aren't meant to...
I think Rivians need the brighter accents to look good. The only exception is maybe a completely black vehicle (the old murdered out look) where everything is black. But that's not really my style. I think bright accents like tow hooks, front skid plate, wheels, and even the window trim look...
Not sure if this was a serious statement or not....but why would anyone ever want to take a Rivan on a race track? Maybe a drag strip, just for the fun of it, but a race track? Why?
A lot of people apparently don't realize this, but you always have the option of using the lower control arms as a lifting point. The big benefit there is that you typically won't need any kind of extension on your jack because the wheel starts lifing off the ground immediately since it's not...
For plug kits, I love these kits....so much better (and less messy) than traditional tire plugs:
Stop & Go – Stop & Go (stopngo.com)
You can get their basic kit on Amazon for about $30. Plus, the plugs are a mushroom head design that require no glue and will never come out or leak. I have a...
That's an interesting opinion. I guess the laws of physics always apply, but rather than have a bigger & heavier vehicle to increase my odds in a collision, I'd rather have a nimble performance-oriented car to avoid those collisions in the first place. You know, something with excellent handing...
I do just the opposite with my Jeep.....I use the air suspension system to raise the tow ball into the trailer, which makes hooking it up incredibly easy. It also helps that the rear camera gives a perfect view to do this from the driver's seat. I'm surprised more people don't use their air...
Nobody said EV sales aren't growing. But the fact remains that they still haven't reached beyond a single digit percentage of ICE sales. To me, that's surprising. I thought we'd be much farther along by now.
Regarding subsidies.....EV sales are largely subsidized. ICE sales are not. If you want...
