  1. Just how far behind is RAN buildout?

Very much this. Lots of cities and counties have archaic approval systems with plenty of bottlenecks along the way. Just the Service Center in Portland, OR for example took a year to get permits approved for remodel of an existing building, and if all goes well they will finally get it opened up...
  2. Tualatin OR Service Center

I had my R1S First Mile drive last Friday, and the guide that road along with me said the Tualatin location is open, and the old temp location is also still open. Each locations will be doing different things. Tualatin location has vehicle lifts, so this is where most repairs will be taking...
  3. New 7 seat Porsche EV SUV coming

There are vehicles out there that make the $100k-$200k 'glamping experience' look like a downright bargain: https://earthroamer.com/
  4. New 7 seat Porsche EV SUV coming

$180k+ ...ouch. I am sure there is an audience for it though in the ultra luxury crowd.
  5. Heat Pump Timeline?

I wouldn't expect to see a heat pump in a Rivian until the R2 series debuts in 2026. VW and Audi just dropped the heat pump from the ID.4 and Q4 due to the ongoing "semiconductor shortage" as well.
  6. Article: Will Rivian Get a Pass for Putting 100 HP Behind a Paywall?

Manufacturers putting performance and other features behind paywall's is nothing new, and if anything the practice is becoming more common, especially with more and more vehicles shipping with connected features and OTA update capability...
  7. Navigation Map update?

Maps not being frequently updated is not limited to Mapbox. My house was built on a sub-divided lot at end of 2019 and it took google 2 years to update the maps in my area to show my house. The street view still is not updated though.
  8. Does the Rivian charger have a non-WiFi option?

WIFI may be needed for some right after it is first installed. There have been many reports of the Rivian EVSEs being 'software locked' preventing anything but the lowest charging amps until the owners contacted Rivian and had support push an update to the EVSE to unlock the full capability.
  9. Hope V2H Vehicle to House is a priority for Rivian

A bidirectional EVSE would need to be installed, along with an automatic transfer switch to isolate the house from the grid, if the house does not already have one due to a previous battery backup/solar installation. A sub-panel will also be desired, if you do not wish to use the vehicle as a...
  10. Rivian R1S gets Thule Motion XT XXl Roof Box installed

How's the range hit with that installed? Also, how do you like the 22's in Portland?
  11. R1T Dual Motor For Sale on Hemmings

    NHTSA verifies it's a Quad-Motor: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder
  12. Can mirrors fold while driving into/out of the garage?

I am assuming you are talking about the Rivian R1T here, if so something seems very off about that measurement... The Rivian R1T and R1S are both 79 inches wide without including the mirrors, 81.8 inches wide with the mirrors folded, and 87.1 inches overall with the mirrors fully extended...
  13. Slide in Camper Option incoming from Earth Roamer

Very curious to see how that will end up working considering the rear roof spoiler protrusion into the bed space and lack of access for the spare tire compartment, unless they make a fancy interior passthrough option for tire access. Also the fact that Rivian states in the R1T manual that
  14. What surprised you - preferably in a good way?

Well unless you are driving around all the time with the R1S loaded to the hilt with people and their cargo, you will not be tipping the scales at 8500lbs all the time, or ever. The curb weight is around 7000lbs +/-, depending on configuration (Off-road package, spare tire, etc.) from the...
  15. Rivian Membership..... It's January 16 so.......

The membership page disappeared after the first email went out earlier this month, since then the only mention of anything about Membership can now only be found by searching the support section: https://rivian.com/support/article/what-s-the-latest-on-membership
  16. OEM tires (22" Sport Tires) after 22K+ miles—tire tread depth remaining measurements

Curious about the high conserve mode usage, is the majority of your driving long distance/highway driving?
  17. Official Rivian Email: Max Pack updates planned for February

Soon seems to be very relative with Rivian, but it would make sense that they future proof their RAN network with the capability, even if they do not yet have vehicles that can take that kind of throughput right now.
  18. Official Rivian Email: Max Pack updates planned for February

For the near term in the current R1 platform, Rivian has already stated that the dual-motor will be the same 450v architecture. So until they decide to do a major refresh on the R1 tech, 800v does not appear to be happening anytime s00n. See comments starting at 19:17
  19. 48 amp bumped to 14 amp

A few others have reported something similar, seems some of these EVSEs are software locked and need Rivian's intervention to get that sorted. Call Customer Support, they will be able to get you squared away.
