  1. I saw RJ Scaringe at the airport...

I don't need a horn for anger. I use it to alert someone who's about to pull into my lane that they didn't see me or something like that. I also do a light tap on the horn if I'm stopped behind someone who didn't notice that traffic had started moving in front of them, but only after giving...
  2. I saw RJ Scaringe at the airport...

The first question I would ask would simply be: "Have you ever had to use the horn on a Rivian?" I remain frustrated by the lack of a 12V outlet in the front, but the horn is the change that really bugs me. I'll be installing the Realwheels Horn Upgrade kit soon...
  3. R1 Headrest Removal Appreciation Post

Mine lives in the center console bin. I don't have to remove my headrests often, but when I do I thank Ray for an amazing tool. I feel, like a set of pucks, it should be in every Rivian at all times. You only need to remove the headrest once to appreciate what grief this tool will save you.
  4. R1S Subtrunk Fridge

I bought the mini temp to keep in the frunk because I was worried about what I should and should not travel with in there. The disc works great - just sync it to your phone and you can download the history any time you want.
  5. R1S Subtrunk Fridge

Thanks - I've had that thought as well. The first time I use it I'm going to move my Blue Maestro Disc Mini Temp from the frunk to the subtrunk to check the temperature there (it connects to my phone via BT). The other thing I can do is to move the fridge up into the open in the trunk - the...
  6. R1S Subtrunk Fridge

Thanks - I've got the risers as well - they're lost in the photo of all of the other crap I keep in the subtrunk, but they're easily accessible. I wasn't sure if turning the floor cover into a ramp would give enough ventilation or not, but I'll probably go with the "full flat" design that the...
  7. R1S Subtrunk Fridge

I actually have a very similar 10QT model - the Vevor - that I use to keep my beverage ice frozen when we're tailgating. I make "big boy ice" (large cubes) and this small cooler works perfectly and doesn't take up much space on the beverage table. My goal with the Subtrunk fridge/freezer was...
  8. R1S Subtrunk Fridge

I've been on a bit of a quest to find the perfect 12V (or 120V) fridge/freezer that could live in the subtrunk of our R1S and believe I've found it: The BougeRV 23QT, currently on sale for $166 with free shipping. I wanted a fridge that would hold at least two of our favorite Rubbermade...
  9. 19th Century technology - 1, Rivian - 0

Nice souvenir! Just a tough way to find it... One of my favorite 2-night hiking loops in PA is called "The Old Loggers Path" and much of it is on old railroad paths from when the mountains of PA were clearcut in the mid-to-late 1800's. We've seen a number of similar spikes as we were walking...
  10. How many R1 owners are moving to R2?

R2 reservations are not transferrable. Best you can do is to get your money back.
  11. R1S frunk cooler

In my case, using a L3 charger means that I likely just drove for around 200 miles and need more juice to continue on my way, so both things you mentioned were at play. It's really understanding what I can and cannot keep in my frunk while traveling.
  12. How many R1 owners are moving to R2?

We'll be keeping our Gen1 R1S and adding the R2. Our two ICE vehicles are away at college with our twins and I need a second vehicle. My wife and I have been sharing the R1S fairly successfully (we both work 100% from home), but there are still times that we need a second car. At least one of...
  13. R1S frunk cooler

The Blue Maestro Disc Mini Temp works really well for logging temperatures - it downloads the history to your phone whenever you want. The biggest challenge for you will be tracking the ambient temperature so you have a comparison point. Do make a point of including a 20-80% L3 charge in your...
  14. R1S frunk cooler

One thing to keep in mind about the frunk: It can get very hot. I keep a Blue Maestro temperature logger in my frunk to keep track of the temperature - really to learn what I can and cannot keep there while traveling. I was very surprised to learn that it hit 120F while at a L3 charger when...
  15. O.ChargePoint being discontinued

My in-laws installed a ChargePoint home charger for us to use when we visit (they don't have an EV yet) and I had to create a Professional account and swear I was a certified electrician (I'm not) in order to configure the unit and get it to work. I think I had received an email from them a...
  16. "Rivian has identified your R1 may be at risk of experiencing a 12-volt battery failure."

Absolutely - the last time my 12V issue manifested itself by giving me a warning to find a safe place to pull over because the car was shutting down shortly. A full reset fixed it and I was able to drive. It wasn't until the 3rd time it happened that I also got a 12V warning. In addition to...
  17. All Rivian vehicles capable of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) charging and more.. Reddit Rivian Answers

From what I've seen in the forum, @mudito is really friendly and helpful. You'll probably need the help of an electrician for the transfer switch and the other thing you'll need to figure out is if you need to power everything in the house or just a few outlets.
  18. College Students Rebuilding R1S Rear Suspension

Amazing work - thank you! I'm REALLY curious about what's under the sub-trunk in our '23 R1S. I feel that the "tub" doesn't make the most of the space so if you're ever removing the sub-trunk tub (where the spare would go) and can take some photos I'd really appreciate it!
  19. Mexico, anyone?

I was thinking this too, but also couldn't remember his user name and then I found it: @R.I.P. He was a prolific participant here and then dropped off - His posts should be really helpful.
  20. All Rivian vehicles capable of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) charging and more.. Reddit Rivian Answers

Depending on your power requirements, you may be able to use the excellent work done by @mudito for a V2H solution: How to use your Rivian as a Power Bank (safe way) The most expensive single component in the setup is the "buffer battery" that you'll need between the Rivian and your house, but...
