  1. 2nd Ski Trip this time in a Loaner with 21" OEM tires vs my 20" AT

Great observations. It also may be my driving style? I am coming from a 2007 Wrangler which I was lucky to ever hit 70 (downhill) ... so having something with some performance, I take advantage. Last performance vehicle I had was a Toyora Sienna (surprisingly nimble and responsive, I loved...
  2. 2nd Ski Trip this time in a Loaner with 21" OEM tires vs my 20" AT

Road conditions were perfect. cool, dry, no concerns. I really did NOT notice any difference in normal driving, my truck is in shop because I started getting more road noise AFTER they did the tie rod replacement and alignment... hence in a loaner. But the loaner has much worse wind noise at...
  3. Rally mode, gravel lot... Bad ending (tie rod)

Availability for Rivian parts and cost of Rivian's tie rod.... Both make it difficult for "what if" and recreational wheeling.
  4. Rally mode, gravel lot... Bad ending (tie rod)

Not a Mechanical Engineer... But why can't both ends of the tie rod be threaded on with a jam nut like the wheel side? Make the weak part of the rod break... Unthread both sides thread in new... Get moving again?
  5. 2nd Ski Trip this time in a Loaner with 21" OEM tires vs my 20" AT

I thought I would update with more data from my original post. It's not an apples to apples comparison (took different route there, but same route home). ALSO have a loaner R1T that has 21" wheels vs my 20"AT. ALSO I put it in Conserve mode the entire trip, vs All-Purpose. Hard to determine...
  6. Backup camera glitching every morning

I've never had a stutter... I randomly get A) wrong picture (backing out at home, I see work parking lot) or B) Green Screen... No video feed
  7. UPDATED FIXED: - Starting to struggle with accepting Rivian's service tactics! Hoping others agree...

I definitely will be returning it cleaner than I got it... I may even keep up my weekly washing routine on the loaner... ;)
  8. UPDATED FIXED: - Starting to struggle with accepting Rivian's service tactics! Hoping others agree...

100% need to improve the service experience, wait times are long and unknown. They called Tuesday to confirm 10:45 appt and couldn't answer when they would finish an alignment... I asked "do I wait?" They said "we'll provide a loaner if available or a rental?" I asked, will it be ready at 10:45...
  9. Adding crossbars?

Yikes a bit of a premium, but I guess that makes sense! ($28 for 2 in yakima shop, but different key style... I guess not much of a premium since the $65 in the shop is for 4) How much do I want 1 key? Thanks for the info!!
  10. Adding crossbars?

I was going to make a full post, but thought I would ask here instead. Yakima SKS key system ... I have a FAT CAT EVO 6 attached to my Rivian crossbars.. that's 6 locks, (4 riv/2 ski) I can't find the Rivian CORES anywhere (wanted to buy 2 for the Ski rack, vs 4 for the Rivian, plus I like the...
  11. Future updates I'd like to see

Guest seats adjustment... so when I let friends borrow it they don't click "remember" and now I have to adjust back. Or make it a clear GUEST button or something so they know what to click
  12. Additional Second Row Cupholders DIY Mod -- dual cupholder added to center console

For next Gen Rivian's my thought is they should have in that spot and also under the front dash in the "Big Empty" and maybe a few other strategic spots... something that looks like what the Crossbars attach to but smaller for interior. just a groove and bar that is mounted solidly. Then sell...
  13. Successful First Ski Trip Report with R1T: Gilbert, AZ to Sunrise Resort (good trip, disappointing Nav)

FRAME: Crossbars 48inch T Slot 2020 Aluminum Extrusion connect them 300mm T Slot 2020 Aluminum Extrusion T-Slot hardware depending on how you assemble, I would do it different if I started new Cover: Composites Traditional 3/8-in x 3-1/2-in W x 5.75-ft H Rosewood Dog Ear Composite Fence Picket...
  14. Successful First Ski Trip Report with R1T: Gilbert, AZ to Sunrise Resort (good trip, disappointing Nav)

I built it myself! sorta trial and error. Used Poly Fencing, braced it with aluminum T channel ... works great, but not waterproof (more water proof than open bed). But secure enough and keeps eyes off gear.
  15. Successful First Ski Trip Report with R1T: Gilbert, AZ to Sunrise Resort (good trip, disappointing Nav)

Yeah the rates put it closer to ICE pricing, but still cheaper than me doing the same trip last year in my Jeep. I think the rates will drop eventually when they get built out with competition. Like I was sorta complaining about the Show Low Charger being at City Hall with no amenities or...
  16. Successful First Ski Trip Report with R1T: Gilbert, AZ to Sunrise Resort (good trip, disappointing Nav)

What a perfect day and a perfect vehicle for it. It went 100% smooth if I ignore the Nav issues. 422 miles, with a 7,000 ft elevation change I used 265 kWh ... so an average of 1.59 kWh. Used 2 different EA chargers for 171 kWh and $88.85 for a total of 95 minutes Some some of that EA...
  17. What fits in gear tunnel?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/9ugnvg4frC MTM ACR8-72 bins are great for base I fill 1 with water bottles, just as emergency stash for desert, that typically is always in there. But I have different bins for different adventures. Or repack for different reasons, can bring the bin inside...
  18. Road noise after repair of tie rod

Thanks the Rivian Service Center charged $260 for alignment after replacing the tie rod, It definitely felt like the alignment was "not right", but I haven't driven enough to confirm, first drive was in rush hour traffic and I didn't really notice, 2nd drive was early morning and definitely...
  19. Road noise after repair of tie rod

Not sure if I am being extra sensitive, but I seem to get a much more noticeable road noise after having my tie rod repaired. The tie rod "incident" I documented earlier. TLDR; being too adventurous in the sand/gravel Front Passenger wheel was turned in on gravel and chewed up the edges a bit...
  20. Onboard air compressor inaccurate or tpms?

Compressor for sure is inaccurate... I set 5-7 psi below where I want... TPMS seems to compare to my manual gauges much closer and onboard compressor overshoots and has wide variation You are not alone
