  1. More on VW plans for Rivian EV architecture: to be used on Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen & Scout

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/other/rivian-will-power-volkswagen-s-electric-golf-project-trinity/ar-AA1uW3dc I'm less worried about Rivian not surviving now. This is a critical part of VW's future... It's not just the Scout. It'll be used in their entire lineup with Porsche and Audi helping...
  2. Rivian Gets $6.6B DOE Loan Commitment for Georgia Plant Construction

Rivian isn't really a Tesla competitor (despite people trying to cross shop the Model X crossover sometimes). BYD, Kia, Hyundai are though... This should give Rivian some slack to get R2 on the market ?
  3. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

I think half the video was about that. Was mostly a lot of disappointment about max pack charging speeds. Would be curious is the behavior is the same on a RAN charger but I suspect it is from the battery thermal management...
  4. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

I think Kyle genuinely loves Rivian's but he's just trying to get them to do better. Ditto the last Gen2 Out of Spec Detailing review. Paint getting rubbed off when opening a door isn't what I'd expect of a Gen2. Hope Rivian takes this as constructive feedback. I'm actually surprised I haven't...
  5. Learned more Rivian Gen 2 tech updates / differences to Gen 1

I thought about asking about it and the unheated headlights but it was an AMA with Wassym who is the software head... Would love an AMA with the mechanical design and service heads...
  6. Stellantis EREV platform with 690 mile range

If it's similar to the Scout, people might be convinced. 3.5sec 0-60 is noticably faster than a gas engine can do unless your in hypercar territory... Plus you get to charge at home (if you can) and be cheaper than gas unless you live in CA ?
  7. Stellantis EREV platform with 690 mile range

https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/jeep-ram-erevs-690-mile-range-platform/ Interesting that everyone seems to doing this EREV approach now...
  8. It's on. $69K Polestar 3 with 350 miles of range coming in 2025.

Coworker had her Polestar 3 brick itself today... At least Rivian is not alone ?
  9. Submit your questions for Wassym Q&A I’m moderating at LA Auto Show!

A few for me: He mentioned a third party app API in a previous interview. When will this be available and can anyone build apps for the system? I.e. will there be a fee...how do people upload/debug apps...is there a certification process? How is Rivian hunting down all the mysterious reboot...
  10. Learned more Rivian Gen 2 tech updates / differences to Gen 1

Looks like it's confirmed you have to remove the entire seat to replace the battery?
  11. “Rivian Declares War On Physical Buttons”

In the interview, it was clearly said that *touchscreen* buttons should not be needed. Steering wheel buttons are excluded.
  12. What brand of phone do you use?

Should have looked it up: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-uwb-galaxy-s21-series-and-which-models-support-it Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Samsung Galaxy S21+ Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Samsung Galaxy S22+ Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Samsung Galaxy S23+ Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Samsung Galaxy S24+...
  13. What brand of phone do you use?

AFAIK only the Ultras have UWB. My S23 Ultra I think was the first?
  14. Learned more Rivian Gen 2 tech updates / differences to Gen 1

That would have been the right way to design it. But if you watch the video, they said you need to *remove the seat*...
  15. Learned more Rivian Gen 2 tech updates / differences to Gen 1

? It's expected to be replaced every 2-3 yrs and now you have to remove an entire seat to get to it? ?
  16. Rivian secures R2 / R3/ R3X's larger battery cells (4695) from LGES

Apparently because they're 6x bigger ? At least they should save some money because of fewer cells. I was hoping it was some new formulation with high energy density... ?
  17. Q3 2024 earnings released. Sales & positive gross profit reiterated for Q4 2024

"selling tri-motors to mitigate supply issues for motors as these vehicles only require 1 large motor per build." Just realized this means they're using Bosch motors for the Tri? That'll reduce their profit on it too...
  18. Rivian secures R2 / R3/ R3X's larger battery cells (4695) from LGES

Interesting blurb on what batteries the R2 / R3 / R3X will use Looks like bigger cells so more cost savings: https://insideevs.com/news/740256/rivian-r2-lges-battery-deal-4695-cells 2026 Rivian R2 Will Get New LG Cells With 'Six Times' The Capacity Korean battery giant LG Energy Solution...
  19. Lucid Gravity Opens Order Books Today $94,900 - Anyone Reserving?

Don't think this is a Rivian competitor? Maybe a Kia EV9 competitor instead?
  20. Rivian’s U.S. sales fell 34.9% in October (Ouch!)

Lower prices are more because China isn't consuming as much (in a recession) and there is overproduction. But most people are also better served with hybrids...save gas 90% of the time and can refill quickly on longer trips. EVs are more fun to drive though ?
