On my daily commute I see more and more EV's that have recently come into production. By and large the manufacturers have put forth some pretty nice designs. I drove Model s for 10 years and it's a great design but now it's a bit stale imo. The X,Y and 3 never looked as good as the S, and now...
Spot on. I drove and '88 FJ60 for 20 years so the R1S is a dream come true for me...if someone is migrating from a Cayenne they'd probably think differently. These aren't necessarily mass market vehicles but they are amazing vehicles
That's a good perspective to have. It seems that the deliveries are being determined more and more by SC location and capabilities rather than production issues- which is a good thing in the long run.
It's unfortunate to hear that is happening but also enlightening. A lot of companies in a lot of different industries are having major issues taking care of their clients/customers. It's probably a sign of the times- talk to anyone involved with using rail transportation for supplies- rail...
To your point, the sticker price on my R1S is too low. It's what I had budgeted 3 years ago and I'm glad that I got this price but having driven it for a month, there is simply no SUV at this price point that can come anywhere close to what the R1S offers. There are some issues that need to be...
True but it's helpful to look at enterprise value as well. GM has an EV of over $130 bil. The current share price of GM also is pricing in a recession. I think both companies are a buy here
It's valued at a bit more than cash on hand but unlike many startups the company has little debt. There's the major issue of the burn rate but as you point out there's been a lot of tax loss selling as well as sector abandonment due to the free for all at Tesla. It's a classic setup for a good...
I drove Tesla for 9 1/2 years and one thing that they did right was the Supercharger network. I never once had a problem charging on any road trip. That said, I didn't take a road trip until year 3 of the Supercharger rollout. Hopefully the RAN will be dependable and will gain critical mass over...
That torque display is a great way to get a feel for the modes. Thanks for attaching the video. The delivery techs should just email this video or ask the new owner to defer to it for info on the capabilities of each mode
Ok. Thanks for this. Good to know. The delivery tech was a bit confused it seems. Is Sport mode still in AWD with most of the torque being directed at the rear wheels?
Actually as it was explained to me at delivery was that Conserve mode directs most of the power to the 2 front wheels but it is still AWD and in a similar way Sport mode directs most of the power to the rear wheels while still being AWD.. I believe that the other modes are 4wd
It looks like the latest update indicates a couple miles more range for the R1T than R1S. In winter driving I'd expect it to be more because of the increased heating drain for the larger cabin in the R1S
That is true but if one is adding on the supply chain emissions for gasoline one needs to do it for electricity as well. You're drilling for nat gas with fossil fuel power and losing a fair amount of CH4 into the atmosphere throughout the entire process. Also, you don't get 30 miles of EV range...
Congrats. My R1S is good to go at the SC but I'm still waiting on the 8 Steps to get done. It's taken 5 days to get the license/registration docs approved and still waiting.
It really seems like production has ramped up. My VIN was over 2600.
The offer I received this week was way too low as well. Used car market is falling and they must be trying to over compensate for that.
I was contacted for the first time on Friday and assigned a guide, VIN and 8 step all at once. The R1S is fully charged and ready to ship at the factory. It...
My situation is pretty similar with ordering and getting bumped. I agree with you that it shouldn't move the needle in anyone's life if you get your car a few months later. I am however, very disappointed in the way Rivian has communicated to the pre-order holders. I did the EV launch with...
I think there's a general frustration for those of us who ordered R1S 3 to 4 years ago. It became apparent that they were going to prioritize R1T deliveries to ensure their guidance for 25k vehicles came true and after all the delays it was disappointing for us.
I fully disagree with the...
Does anyone have a good estimate on R1S production rates? If they're in the 1300's for VIN's I'm assuming they're at about 1000 R1S per month now. It'd be nice to know how many LE orders were accepted. I always guessed that it was about 5000 R1S
I agree. It is imperative that they hit their numbers. The question I have is will this negatively impact R1S deliveries given the fact that the R1T is in higher production volume.
One other item: aren't we supposed to be getting our updated delivery info etc this week via the configurator per...
