No they don't. They just don't want to forfeit future digital revenue streams to Google and Apple in the same way that every phone manufacturer, every TV manufacturer, and nearly every car manufacturer have done over the last decade. But congrats on the setup. Looks neat.
I don't think this is the case. I have never had success trying to plug my Macbook Air or Pro directly into a USB-C. I have one on the base of a lamp and another one that's built into my standing desk. Those are both 120v devices. I think they must dial these down, assuming that most people are...
Oh, I would never get upset at another pre-order holder. Congrats. I just continue to marvel at how Rivian is basing these decisions on wind patterns and tea leaves. There literally seems to be no rhyme or reason whatsoever. I guess I would be mad if there weren't people 2 years ahead of me in...
Nice... Just adds confirmation to my theory about geography being a big deciding factor. I think they don't want to overwhelm the SC out here, which is pushing a bunch of us to the back of the (regional) line.
Just barely got your order right behind mine (by only about 15 months). Congrats though... :)
Just out of curiosity, in what part of the country are you taking delivery? (Please don't say San Francisco.)
I think not. And while 90K people have Rivian orders, many of them (like me) have deposits on other cars/trucks/SUVs too. A 100% refundable deposit is not a contract so some number of these "orders" are actually make-believe. The longer Rivian takes to deliver, the more EVs that come to market...
My buddy just got delivery in Santa Barbara. He ordered a year later than I did. Similar build as mine and I just don't think it's somehow easier to deliver to SoCal than it is to NoCal...
In fairness, used cars have long served as the most frequently cited example of a depreciating asset in the history of depreciating assets. That is with the exception of 2020-2022, where the world turned upside down and supply chains backed up and speculators started day trading used cars...
As I'm seeing all the new posts rolling in about people moving up and back in line, my new theory is that the service center capacity for servicing vehicles is starting to play a bigger role in order date.
I'm an SF / Bay Area order holder and I'd be willing to bet we have outsize...
Per my original note, there are cheaper ways to save $100/month than buying an $85,000 car. Anyone waffling over $100/month in either direction probably shouldn't buy a car that expensive...
Regardless, my intention was not to debate about who among us can afford one of these. It was instead to...
The reason I am not sleeping on the EQB is because it’s shaped like a box, not an egg. I think it’ll have good storage. I was able to reserve one for $1,000 and it’ll be at the dealer in a couple months.
I should really update my signature with my config:
R1T -- Limestone or White or Forest Green or LA Silver or EL Cap or whatever I can get
20" wheels or maybe 21" or maybe just "wheels" if those are available
Powered tonneau but preferably manual tonneau but also no tonneau but those aren't...
Might as well start a new thread to celebrate/commiserate. I was banished from the July - September good time thread but I'm learning to love my new estimate.
We’ll, it was fun being part of this group since December but I’ve been banished to the October/November group according to an email from Rivian today.
In spite of my (mostly) cheerful disposition, all cash payment, lack of trade in, configuration flexibility, basic R1T order, and 2 years of...
