  1. Autonomy+ / Driver+ / Universal Hands-free comparison test on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

How do you find it works? Is it reducing your cognitive load while driving or are you still having to check your mirrors and closely monitor the maneuver? Would be great to get some feedback from someone using the feature regularly. TIA
  2. Autonomy+ / Driver+ / Universal Hands-free comparison test on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

Thank you for that. It wouldn't be the Internet without someone pointing out my inadvertent errors or omissions without substantiation. I don't claim to be perfect, but I am trying to share what I've learned and what I've found with the community. YMMV
  3. Autonomy+ / Driver+ / Universal Hands-free comparison test on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

lane changes, in my book, aren't impressive or useful unless the vehicle is triggering those actions on its own. If I have to trigger a lane change, then I'm driving - not the vehicle.
  4. Autonomy+ / Driver+ / Universal Hands-free comparison test on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

I should have noted that if. you're curious about how this would function with R2, I'd say pay more attention to the Gen 2 part of the video since it's likely to be highly similar, if not the same, until (1) the Gen 3 R2's with LiDAR come out, (2) those R2's cover a lot of miles and (3) Rivian...
  5. Autonomy+ / Driver+ / Universal Hands-free comparison test on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

The stars aligned and I had a 2024 Rivian R1T Dual Max as a loaner so I figured I'd record a back-to-back comparison test of Autonomy+ / Driver+ on the same day and stretch of road as I drove that Gen 1 R1T to the service center and then picked up and drove home in my 2025 R1S Dual Large. Gen 1...
  6. Employees receiving R2 first. Does this forum have any Rivian employees? Will/Can they answer questions?

Reg FD would preclude any Rivian employees reading the forums from posting, particularly about unlainched products as that could be deemed material non-public information and is required then to be shared to all investors equally at the same time.
  7. Is preconditioning before DCFC really worth it?

Good insights here. To add, if you hurriedly precondition you'll introduce thermal gradients (hot spots and cool spots) in the pack, especially a Rivian pack. Ultimately your rate-limiter on DC fast charging will be the area of the pack that's spiking in temps. If you gradually precondition...
  8. Is now the time to buy a used Rivian R1T/R1S?

I have some of the inverse experience so can share a perspective - I have a 2025 R1S that has been at Rivian service for a week so far and they gave me a 2024 R1T loaner that you see in the video. You definitely notice the longer wheelbase of the R1T if you're been driving a R1S and you do need...
  9. Is now the time to buy a used Rivian R1T/R1S?

Thanks I must have missed that or misunderstood thinking matrix LED's would not be available at launch. Appreciate the correction!
  10. Is now the time to buy a used Rivian R1T/R1S?

A few reasons I can think of to get a used R1 over a new R2: - Want seven seats instead of five - Want a small pickup truck bed - Like camping, R1 has air suspension with self-levelling - Like camping, R1S has more interior space/length for taller individuals - towing capacity is higher in...
  11. Is preconditioning before DCFC really worth it?

In temperate conditions (50-100 F), if you don't mind spending another few minutes at the charger then don't precondition and save some juice and money. If you're at/below freezing temps the pack will need to warm up in order to DC fast charge anyway. You can heat up before you get to the...
  12. Is now the time to buy a used Rivian R1T/R1S?

Great estimates, thanks for sharing! Just took a peek at Autotrader and they have 520 Rivians listed for sale across the US. You'll find similar numbers on your site of choice. Those listing prices (not final sale prices) in the mid 50's for 2022 quads are nothing to sleep on, especially...
  13. Is now the time to buy a used Rivian R1T/R1S?

With all the hype around R2 and it's impending ramp of manufacturing there is growing excitement in the Rivian community from R1 owners and R2/R3 fans alike. With used R1's now readily available in many parts of the country including through chains like CarMax and Carvana, is now the time to...
  14. 2027 BMW i3 EV revealed with 440 miles range

BMW is cooking with the iX3 (more akin to R2) and the i3 - which really should carry a different name since the i3 came out a dozen years ago. Looking forward to see this five seat EV SUV segment get cooking.
  15. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

That's all inflation. 29.8% inflation between 2019 and early in 2026 as we discuss here.
  16. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

The rub, at least for me, is the difference between EPA range on an EV and real-world range. For example, in the summer my Cybertruck with it's 123kwh pack will do 3+ mi/kwh all day on 35" all terrains. That's over 350 miles of real-world range (I think EPA is 318). In the winter, that drops...
  17. Coastal Cloud Interior Not Available with R2 Launch Edition

You made declarative statements about what will and will not happen. My point was, and remains, we don't know what will happen with Gen 3. And I'd wager Rivian doesn't know all of the changes either because production has not yet ramped on R2. Changes happen regularly on production lines, and...
  18. Coastal Cloud Interior Not Available with R2 Launch Edition

Talk about spreading FUD! Unless you work at Rivian and have been authorized to share future product plans you're just speculating. Admit it and move along.
