I got pushed to Feb->March 2023 in the config tool… it’ll probably be a year late from their initial delivery window at this point.

It's been an option in the configuration tool forever and is still an option for anyone with an LE trim that hasn't locked their order with a Guide.

If his delivery window is August/September, his R1S is a Launch Edition and eligible for the Launch Green color.

FWIW, I have had that feature for a while (FSD Beta) and I really hated it. Perhaps I should try it again, I'm pretty sure in the initial implementation there was no delay so it chimed even if you took off pretty much right away.

I used Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union for my Tesla. Not sure if they still do it, but they did extra low-interest loans for EV buyers back in 2018. I'll use them again if they are still doing that when Rivian finally gets me my R1S.

I ordered the Launch Edition because I wanted one asap. I don't need the 7 seats and if it didn't require delays, I'd choose a longer range 5-seater no question.

I was doing some trip planning for a potential epic road trip from Seattle -> Maine and back and some of those gaps are really big for sure.....Some of those chargers in places like Dickinson, ND are only 50kW too.

In case it helps you feel better... I've covered the PacNW pretty thoroughly in my 2018 Model 3 LR RWD (~310 miles of quote range) and it's pretty doable with short or no stops most of the time. The NW corner of the Olympic Peninsula and the Winthrop/Thorp areas are probably the hairiest.

100%. Since they never offered it, it won’t have a legacy price. My random ass guess is we won’t see a longer range R1S until we see Rivian produced motors in quad motor as well, producing close to 1000 hp total.

They redesigned the entire rear of the R1S after Feb 2020 so I wouldn't make any assumptions about your measurements still being accurate.
