I made a video about this exact situation I was encountering during multi day camping trips.
The truck will burn crazy amounts of energy just staying awake with inverter on. But for quick 30 minute sessions to recharge the power bank, you will barely lose a mile or two. Check out my results.
I’ve been using this one for about a year now, and it’s been bouncing around in my truck bed the whole time.
Works flawlessly, and since it’s half wattage (700) just double the time you would normally nuke something.
I wrap the plate that’s inside in some cloth so it’s a bit padded and...
Totally agree. It would be interesting to test a lightning and cybertruck to see if they are more efficient in shutting down other systems or having their inverters 'idle'.
Yeah pretty wild huh? I wonder if the 2024 update where they are removing 60% of the R1 ECUs will help address this.
I remember a thread on here where someone upgraded the onboard inverter and found it to get extremely hot while running (its under the passenger seat). Maybe most of the power...
Sharing my findings and solution for when using the onboard inverter to power your fridge while camping. Beware, it will severely eat into your range. I explain in detail in the video what I have noticed including a test in ideal conditions.
My solution? An EcoFlow power bank that can be...
I don't believe thats true, please link me somewhere that says otherwise. My understanding is that its recommended one way during when its busy, because the lower part of the trail is a long, one lane canyon.
I have these set to ~30PSI. On a big sale right now: https://amzn.to/3RedBES
Then depending where I am I will drop lower if needed. I went to about 27 for this trip.
Depends where you are coming in from. I pass by Ramona so I top off there at the EVgo. Hopefully in a few months the supercharger in Julian opens up for us as that would shave off another ~40 miles on the round trip, giving more range for more shenanigans. I was able to make it home, but had I...
Thanks folks, appreciate it!
Good news, if you want to visit the caves you can actually come in a different way and it's basically a glorified dirt road. I saw someone out there in a Camry.
I have this same issue. Above a half inch on front passenger side.
Hoping it can be remedied by a future software update. I had my truck in service for something else and had them take a look, everything checked out fine.
They gave me the same nonsense answer that it was due to the crown in...
