  1. 2500 miles in the past week

I just drove my R1S on ATs from Bellingham, WA almost entirely on I-5 to Bear Valley, CA and back (with a side trip to Oakland). I used mostly Tesla superchargers with the A2Z adapter. It took a couple of tries to get the adapter locked on since the fit was so tight, but it loosened up after a...
  2. Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS **

The hoops that the koolaid drinkers are jumping through on the Tesla Motors Club forum to justify yesterday's news that Musk fired the whole team because he did not like how the meeting went with the head is an insane read. There's lots of people trying to claim it was planned by the genius...
  3. Absolutely sick of Alexa's god-awful navigation

THIS. The issue is with Amazon's address database. If you type in the destination instead, it uses Google Map's database which we all know is far far more accurate.
  4. Tesla Home Charger Adaptor for R1S

99% of the charging on my R1S over the past year has been on a TeslaTap. Works perfectly. And it means I can charge any EV at my house if I have friends/family visit with an EV in addition to the Emporia charger with a J1772 plug that I also have available.
  5. This is why I no longer use the Rivian for Long Distance trips.

That has not been in production in years and was also limited to a much slower charge rate too. Is that really a fair comparison?
  6. This is why I no longer use the Rivian for Long Distance trips.

I have a 2014 volt. The only thing connected to the drivetrain is the electric motor. There is a gas generator that just produces electricity. It's a great system. Range goes from 37 miles to about 18 between summer and winter (90 to 0 degrees) because it uses electric heat so long as the...
  7. This is why I no longer use the Rivian for Long Distance trips.

All M3s are 75 actually. Not that that makes a statistical difference in charging times really.
  8. Lynnwood RAN Status?

Yes, absolutely. I parked at Seatac a few weeks ago and there were 7 Rivians in 10 consecutive parking spaces.
  9. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

Yep, and 3600w will charge 3.75x faster than a normal 15 amp outlet (due to charging overhead being 600w off the top).
  10. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

The really dangerous situation is that the 5-15s will melt (or possibly catch fire) without a breaker tripping first.
  11. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

But those are 15 amp plugs. You'll melt those if you exceed 20 amps. It does not matter what breaker those outlets are connected to as the weak point is a 15 amp connection.
  12. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

Just to confirm, you are not trying to pull 32 amps through two 120v outlets, right? That is double (or more) what should be used or you will be flipping breakers or causing more mayhem.
  13. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

Yep, I was at this hotel in northern Idaho for a week, and saw the outlet upon arrival. I carry a cheap voltage tester in my EVs and found there was 240v, and then asked the hotel if I could use it to charge. They did not care, so I went to the local hardware store and bought a couple feet of...
  14. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

I really thought I had a pic, but the outlet on the lamp post in a hotel parking lot that I made an adapter for was a 240v 30 amp (L6-30?) receptacle. 80% continuous should have meant 24 amps available, but there was a very concerning amount of voltage sag of 30 volts (probably because the...
  15. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

I used to bring a 50 amp breaker and pop it into a garage panel when visiting family in CA with my Tesla. Worked great. Never trusted the wiring to the garage and would usually dial it down to 24-32 amps though.
  16. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

There are some available from EVSE: https://www.evseadapters.com/shop/en/ But...16 amps is actually 50% faster at charging vs 12 amps because of the charging overhead. It's even better than you thought!
  17. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

You nailed it. Now going back to the wire size feeding that panel, I used to do a lot of temporary power installs for outdoor concerts, and with a well fed panel, we often would tie into the busbars directly. Doing that and bypassing the breaker with that size feed could get you 50 amps (40...
  18. Charging a Rivian from various outlets (tried 120v through the 14-50 mobile charger too)

Ah, I assumed that adapter was putting the 15 on one phase and the 30 on the other. I believe this adapter is wired so the hot from the 15 goes to one hot in the 14-50 outlet, and the 30 goes to the other hot. If both are on the same phase, the Rivian won't be able to do anything with...
