I don't think this is a case of an owner saying "my windows won't go all the way down, help me". (An issue I've not heard of)
This is a perspective owner asking if the windows are designed to go down all the way in the back, (as that's not the case for many vehicles).
For the dual motor there is no mode that is EXCLUSIVELY FWD. You could maybe do it if you're just cruising and never apply too much throttle. But taking off from a stop will always be AWD until you hit about 20.
Afaik the only exclusively FWD mode that exists in Rivian land is G1 quad conserve
I only say this from more recent experience with gen 1 loaners (and my friend's truck). It scared me a few times. I can only imagine what it was like before the software update
Unfortunately, I don't know specifics either - all I know is that in my experience with gen 1 quad, the disconnect is fairly abrupt and rough (thus the need for a separate drive mode to choose whether it's connected or not). On dual and gen 2 tri/quad, the disconnect is much faster and smoother...
I think the EPA has range ratings all wrong for EVs. It needs to be strictly highway driving. That's when people care about max range. That's when you're going to use the whole (or at least most of) battery in one go
400 miles is realistic in low speed, city conditions. But WHO is driving 400...
It may be too early to tell, as Gen 2 owners haven't had a chance to really rack up the miles yet. But I can tell you that on my G2 dual - I leave it in AP with auto ride height all the time. I drive at least 20 mi on the highway (in low suspension mode) daily.
After 9,000 miles so far, the...
Are you talking about Gen 1 Quad or Gen 2 Quad?
My understanding is that the clutch system is pretty much identical between Dual Tri, and Quad (Quad is supposed to have an identical rear unit to Tri). They all use electromagnetic clutch disconnects.
Conserve in Tri and AP in Dual are basically the same thing from my understanding.
Tire wear is pretty much a non - issue, because when you get on the power (the situation where tire wear becomes an issue) it engages AWD, regardless.
It only goes to FWD, when you are in low-power situations...
Just curious what battery/motor config everyone has. I know majority of Gen 1 sales were Quad/Large with Dual/Large not far behind (or maybe the other way around?). Curious what the spread is for Gen 2. Is Dual Max the new volume leader? Maybe Tri Max? - This could also be fun to revisit once...
There's one guy working on development for the comma AI on Rivian
As of the last update it's pretty meh. It only works on gen 1.
It gets you lane centering off highway, so that's nice. Speed control just uses the built in cruise control, so there's little to no awareness of when to speed up...
Well they're certainly not MAKING their own clothing. Almost everything in their swag shop is a white label poduct with their custom branding on it. Small car company, small volume, high price. Just as with the auto parts/compnents industry, you get better prices if you order higher volumes.
