I recently did a deep dive on how Rivians see the world - their "perception stack". As is usually the case this is MUCH easier to understand with visuals - so I recommend checking out the Youtube Video:
Otherwise, here's a summary of what I found:
The Hardware:
- 11 high-resolution cameras**...
This. Theoretically possible. My guess is you'd end up replacing the port as well as the on board AC charger, and possibly some cabling/switch gear to handle the pin switching. I guarantee the parts are somewhat modular (they designed gen 2 with changing to NACS in mind from launch). I think the...
I think it's mostly just a name brand thing. You're paying for the michelin name. The way I heard it put - it's 90% of the tire that the defender is at 60% of the cost
I'm only 200 mi in on them right now so I can't speak to range, but as far as driving dynamics they're great so far! They seem to perform very similarly to the stock pirellis day to day. The look just a bit more agressive, which is nice. Based on the research I was doing they don't seem to...
Maybe oversimplifying, but just connecting your phone to Bluetooth and playing the Plex app from there? That will give you full steering wheel controls and everything. If your phone is connected to the hotspot then you will be using your connect + data
I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet, but if the screens turn off your passengers can just touch the screen (within 10-15 seconds) and it will immediately turn back on. This works on the front or rear screen, no camp mode, pet mode, and no door cracking required
Haha I'm just glad I'm not the only one who gets these curiosity itches. And don't you worry, I've got lots of plans! :D
Hmm that's a tough one. Definitely a couple of things at play here, one of which being that the Highway Assist ML model certainly has a ways to go when it comes to reacting...
@godfodder0901 - A clarification. I realized that the written version of my post didn't make it super clear. I wasn't using the meter on the driver's display at all. I was relying on the service mode screen that shows exactly how many amps are coming into or leaving the HV battery
Great call outs!
Yes this testing was done on Gen 2 - and regen assist was turned off, just in case.
While I didn't do testing on the rotor temp I DID watch the service mode display and saw 40-80kw (~150-200A) of energy going into the battery under light to moderate deceleration. So while the...
That's a good call it! I know that meter definitely lies, I've noticed as much when regen assist is turned on as well. That's why I wanted to look at how much the brake pedal was physically moving
Full test is on YouTube (Thunder Volt Auto): Click Here
As is usually the case for my posts - it is much easier to understand what I'm talking about with the visuals in the video (pedal cam + service screen), but here’s the written breakdown if you’d rather read.
This all started when I...
It's really just hard to convey how much better the lights are without seeing it in person.
For me personally I actually kind of like the turn signal down network below for a couple of reasons
1- it leaves the iconic lighting signature uninterrupted (and it doesn't pulse on and off)
2- the...
It may be worth investigating WHY it's relisted at a lower price. I wonder if they discovered something wrong with it or damaged that was not disclosed in your deal. And thus triggered them to relist at a lower price with that damage listed.
Yes! Well... Not OFFICIALLY confirmed - but wassym has hinted at it in one form or fashion more than a few times, including allowing out of spec on YouTube to show off a prototype version of the software. So basically yes confirmed LOL.
But don't get your hopes up too far, because of the EPA...
One thing I should point out here so that the two issues don't get conflated, this appears to be an issue with the clutch disconnect, which is an entirely separate issue from the ting washer and half shafts.
The Ting washer issue is not continuously audible while the vehicle is in motion. It is...
RivianTrackr has a great tire guide for different brands and options for every wheel size. Generally speaking, 20-in Wheels have the most options, but you can find good options for 22 as well

I got the sport upgrade post purchase and don't regret it one bit. I use it ALL THE TIME and love it
If you feel so inclined, I would LOVE to learn about said lubrication technique
