The camera/processor camera in the mobile eye system on gen 1 isn't good enough to provide the great stability that it does with what it sees alone. It uses the map data as a crutch (knowing when curves are coming up, etc). Thus the mapping limitation
Especially notable because there ARE mobile...
I don't think the need for training data has changed. They've used a ton even just to get us to this point. My vehicle uploads 200-500gb/mo (I do a LOT of driving). So I suspect we'll see more of the same in that regard.
Granted, I have very fast Internet, but the upload is usually done within...
Disclaimer: While the results of my testing and observations provide a high degree of certainty, none of this is 100% conclusive fact confirmed by Rivian. (But I'm still convinced)
Several months ago I made a post on how Gen 2 R1 is relying on an off-the-shelf Mobileye driver assistance system...
This is actually different from the 12v battery replacements that they had to do for Gen 1 vehicles.
This is a one and done sort of a thing. The issue they are addressing for Gen 2 vehicles, is nothing to do with the battery or charging system, but rather the bracket the holds the battery in...
Not 100% confirmed. They said they were considering and trying it out, but they weren't 100% commited to the idea. The fact that they were willing to show it to media means it's likely, but they never confirmed that this software is ACTUALLY going to be released.
Side note - if you look close...
I don't think BMS reading is as much of an exact science as you think it is. It's really just an educated guess. Battery cell balance and voltages shift slightly over time and use. 0-100 gives the BMS a better idea of what the true balance of voltages are around the pack. If you don't believe me...
Should work the same, so long as it's a high quality plug (the kind you can't get at home depot). The cheap live you can get at the hardware store aren't robust enough to handle being pushed to the limit on a daily basis (like ev charging)
The Rivian mobile charger (no longer included for free...
The recommendation to drain to 0% was made because that helps the battery management system calibrate to give more accurate SOC and battery health readings. You're right that cell memory doesn't come into play here.. it's purely for BMS calibration sake.
I'd argue that you SHOULD do this once...
I have a suspicion that tri and quad (both gens) are near identical in AP standard. The half shafts can only take so much force at standard ride height, and I'll bet that's the limiting factor for power. Any motor config can more than max out their strength in standard height. That's why even...
It's worth noting the difference between "Tank Turn" and "Kick Turn". Kick Turn is available in motion, while Tank Turn is just spinning in place. I can absolutely see the need for more precise motor control to pull that off vs Tank Turn. That said, G1 Quad has been shown to be capable of a...
They didn't make any posts about it but the configurator's online are now switched to 2026 for the other models. The only difference I noticed was that they removed some color options and nacs is now on all models
