Yes!! Great testing!! I have been trying to figure this one out forever.
I still would LOVE to know how it's moving the brake pedal without actually engaging the brakes
I can't imagine why either. Glad I'm not the only one who's seeing this. Hopefully the put it back on the next one!
There have been pretty few updates/changes to the highway assist stack recently. Only tiny tweaks. So I'm hoping they've got some new stuff coming soon (I'm guessing if they did...
What I'm seeing is a substantial lag in turning the blinker off after executing an automatic lane change. It will just sit there with the turn signal on for 2-4 blinks after the lane change is complete. Not a HUGE deal but it's annoying and confuses other drivers.
Using the smart turn signal...
Truth be told I'm not entirely sure they even CAN collect meaningful data from gen 1. Since it relies on a mobile eye computer, they don't have access to the data to be able to send in the same way the do with gen 2. This is my assumtion otherwise
Yeah I think they're in HARD CORE data collection mode to train their AI models. And I'm happy to help the cause! Doesn't really matter to me as my internet is fast and unlimited. But it's DEFINITELY an insane amount of data. Good news: for those that have data caps, you can always turn off data...
Rivian uses AWS HEAVILY. The data collected for ADAS training gets uploaded to AWS every time you connect to Wi-Fi (if you have a Gen 2 vehicle).
For my driving patterns it's usually 400-500gb/mo
I've been very happy with my gen 2 R1S! It has never once felt unsettled or like the back end is loose, like Kyle from out of spec described. I honestly think that something is amis with theirs.
I can say that the ride quality is definitely a little bit worse than R1T when going over poorly...
Well, I'm not a California resident so I can't say for sure but I suspect that you can, because those are not direct from manufacturer sales. They have dealer licenses
Interesting - well here's my hypothesis...
At home I charge with a custom built open EVSE unit and have never seen this error. But I also regularly charge on a Tesla wall connector. When I connect to the Tesla connector it first tries to use some kind of proprietary communication protocol that...
My understanding is that it's some weird stupid loophole with certain state's laws around dealership licenses and the direct to consumer sales model. If they are a proper dealer no problem. But since they are the OEM, there's weird laws with it

Here's what chat GPT said about...
IIRC - the deal with VW is about the underlying hardware/software to make the vehicle run. I think the specific UI implementation (and possibly the whole OS for the infotainment) is not part of the deal. SO.. I think what we are seeing here is all VW, not Rivian. That said.... I LOVE the retro...
