  1. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

I like Elon Musk and believe he genuinely wants to make the world a better place. As for the cords being too short... Tesla engineers are plenty talented enough to solve such a trivial problem. As for the 800v-1000v cars charging slower... At least they can count on the chargers to work...
  2. My ultimate bike rack setup for heavy ebikes

I can't really compare the cost for you because I started with an extended Thule rack and modified it beyond recognition. Metal is pretty cheap if you know where to buy it and can weld. I would say the time it took was the most expensive. The thing about the Kuat and the Thule carriers is...
  3. My ultimate bike rack setup for heavy ebikes

Howdy friends! Thought I would share this photo. My family and I are headed into Yosemite to camp for a few days. This bike hauling setup is custom and working great so far. I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them. Happy treading, UPDATE: So, after two trips from San Jose to...
  4. 700 mile road trip with R1S Rooftop Tent -- efficiency / range numbers

I think you're right about not being able to tell. I tried to do some testing for an hour with all the bikes on, but I couldn't get consistent enough speeds at the time to tell. You can see in the photos how much the bikes over the bed stick up in the wind. There's a cost for sure, but I...
  5. 700 mile road trip with R1S Rooftop Tent -- efficiency / range numbers

I appreciate the time you took to share your data. It's very interesting. We're headed to Yosemite next week with a new setup that includes two ebikes mounted on the bed of my R1T and two on the trailer hitch. I'm going to do some testing to see what the range hit is before we leave, with the...
  6. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

+1 for fixing the proximity lock/unlock (iPhone 13P). Sometimes it's great, but it's usually not. It's silly how inconsistent it is. Short list of runner ups: - Loading mode (raise the the front, lower the back for easier access) It's all there, they just need to write the software. -...
  7. How expensive is your registration?

I wonder what the renewal will cost. Probably pretty close to that though.
  8. Motorcycle wheel chock system installed in the bed. Just needs a coat of paint!

Thanks, Broc. I hear that Beta 200 is amazing. Mine is a 21' 390 RRS and I'm in love with it. I'm building it into a sort of ultra light adventure bike. I had an 06 CRF 450X, but it was just the wrong bike for the more technical, hard-ish enduro riding I like to do. I'm 100% convinced I...
  9. How expensive is your registration?

I can't wait to get out of this state. $1172 a year isn't the end of the world, but it sure feels excessive. My 2019 GX460 is under $400... I guess the state would rather I drive my gas guzzling V8 than my R1T. I'll pay this extortive bill and sleep better knowing I only have to pay this...
  10. Almost finished with mods: PPF, ceramic coating, tints, mud flaps, sun roof shade (& more to come)

That bed cover is great. From what I can tell, they're using sign board material and edging, then wrapping it with carbon style vinyl. I've had an account at a sign supply place for a long time. They have some really cool materials like that, that are fun to repurpose. I think it's aluminum...
  11. Motorcycle wheel chock system installed in the bed. Just needs a coat of paint!

I used 1/16th wall 1" box for the frame, 3" x 1/8th thick angle for the chocks, and 3/16" plate for the supports between them. I used a 120v mig welder with shielding gas. It's not hard to learn to make things strong, but it takes practice to make the welds pretty. I used to over build...
  12. Motorcycle wheel chock system installed in the bed. Just needs a coat of paint!

I agree with you that the center stand is a bad idea on the spare tire cover. I have two large ramps for loading, so I can walk up one while driving the bike up the other. As long as there's a tie down from the bike ramp to the trailer hitch, I would have no problem getting a GS up there...
  13. Motorcycle wheel chock system installed in the bed. Just needs a coat of paint!

UPDATE! @cbrcanuck , here's those pics with the bike loaded you asked for a while back. This thing has been working fantastic. It wouldn't need the strap around the front tire if I didn't drive so fast. I also feel quite blessed that my bed cover is still working fine. Also included a...
  14. Cybertruck Latest "Beta" Prototype gets up close look inside and out at Tesla Investor Day

I wonder which law enforcement agency will be first to add a Cybertruck to their fleet. That thing just screams Robocop to me... And I love it.
  15. Newest "Now You Know" Video focusing on 12v battery issues in Rivians

I agree! I've watched them act like total noobs while pretending to be experts. They seem to latch onto or create controversy... Now you all know.
  16. Tires Wearing Out by 25k miles, 20 inch A/T

Exactly. I have the full spare and rotate it in about every 6k. I also drive around in off road/rally/high for fun about 20% of the time, which I suspect is contributing to the impossibly even wear I'm getting inside and out. So far, I'm impressed with the tires and will probably replace them...
  17. Scout EV pickup/SUV teaser released. Visit new sister-site @ ScoutEVforum.com

Edit for context, merged thread: Is anyone here going to King of the Hammers in a few weeks? I’ll be there with a friend. Thinking of brining my R1T to haul the dirt bikes. I wouldn’t mind collaborating on charging stops, gear list, etc. And meeting up would be fun. We’re going Wed &...
