  1. Speed Limiting Through OTA Updates? What's Next?

With all due respect, Kyle, I never said anything about driving 100+ in traffic. I merely said the ability to drive fast can be valuable. What if someone was chasing you and trying to run you off the road or shoot you? Wouldn't you want to be able to create ad much distance as possible if the...
  2. Does battery percentage affect acceleration?

Yup, higher voltage will give you higher performance. The pack has a max and minimum voltage. The cells will last longer if they aren't subjected to the extreme ends, high or low. Each cell's happy place is about 3.9 volts with a max of about 4.2 and a minimum of 3.2 ish. The rivian runs on...
  3. Speed Limiting Through OTA Updates? What's Next?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning reckless behavior. I don't tell other people how to live theirs lives and don't want to be told how to live mine (Gadsden flag waving in the background). I'm a first responder. Several times in my life, while not working, I have found myself in the midst...
  4. Speed Limiting Through OTA Updates? What's Next?

Speak for yourself, please, not for me. If there's an emergency and the roads allow it to be done in reasonable safety, the truck should be able to go as fast as the tires allow. At least 130mph. I can't stand electronic nannys. It's a free country and that means everyone has the right to...
  5. Why the Front Camera View is so Bad: An Overview

Agreed. I'd pay to upgrade the cameras, especially if they would enable a dash cam. It's such an important feature, I can't believe they didn't ship with it. I guess we just have to hurry up and wait.
  6. Adding cupholders to R1T?

I've been working on a solution on and off. I'm thinking of mounting something to the rear doors near the upper speaker grill. There's a void there between the B pillar and the front seat that seems like a good spot. Next step is to figure out how to mount it and wether to mount it to the B...
  7. ⚠️ Rivian Recall: insufficiently torqued front upper control arm & steering knuckle fastener [official torque value = 90 lb-ft / 122 Nm]

Vin 5719. Scheduled a mobile visit to torque the nut on Monday morning... I'm impressed with the 2 day turn around. I'm in San Jose, CA and heard from the local body shop that Rivian hires for paint work, that Rivian is opening a service center very soon here in San Jose. Sweet! I think...
  8. Musk: Tesla Cybertruck will be waterproof and can serve as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & calm seas

Question... How much hate will I get if I put license plate frame on my R1T that says, "I'd rather be driving a Cybertruck"? ??
  9. Doug Demuro Review: The Rivian R1S Is the Most Amazing Electric SUV Yet [Earns Highest Doug Score Ever!]

Anyone know what this new split button on the left stalk does? My R1T has one big button.
  10. I made my own jack puck for $5

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I've got an old Atlas lathe from the 40's that still does it's thing. I bought some Delrin scrap and used a stainless steel pin. I'm thinking of drilling some holes in the bottom to lighten it up and add some magnets on the shelf so it will stay...
  11. Aftermarket door sill covers ?

Hey Donald, it doesn't interfere with the door and even through this crazy heat wave in California, it seemed perfectly fine. I will say the adhesive is serious stuff, so I'm not sure how removable it is or will be down the road.
  12. Aftermarket door sill covers ?

Thanks! I kinda just winged it and kept trimming it till it looked good, then started the application from the cutout.
  13. Aftermarket door sill covers ?

I thought it needed something too, when I saw my kid stepping on the painted part. Getting in and out of the back seat in the R1T isn't the best. I bought this 3M rubber and it worked great. 3M self adhesive rubber This has been through 6k miles with three camping trips
  14. My camp mode leveling initial review

Nah, it's not so bad, especially if you're only raising the front. I agree the compressor should be rated for a longer duty cycle than it is though.
  15. Broken Suspension on R1T ? during PNW Rivian group trip: WA BDR.

Yeah, sounds like a leaky fitting with the pump spinning it's wheels. A small leak can be found with soapy water. Big leaks should be obvious. Sorry to hear about your trip being cut short. Please let us know once you learn the actual cause so we can prepare a field kit if possible.
  16. My camp mode leveling initial review

It's a shame they didn't add a loading mode while they were at it. Raise the front and lower the back.
  17. Motortrend R1S First Test Review: Another Showstopper

I wonder if Motor Trend will give the R1S the Car of the Year after giving the R1T Truck of the Year. That would be wild.
  18. Not just a missing center cap after all. Yikes. (Lost bolt that holds the axel to the hub)

Yeah, I wasn't really worried about it. Just wondering how many other bolts might fall off. I've got over 6k miles on Blue (yer my boy Blue!) so far and loving every one of them. I noticed they added an inspection of my drive units and suspension to the work order even though I hadn't asked...
  19. Not just a missing center cap after all. Yikes. (Lost bolt that holds the axel to the hub)

So my truck is at the service center to fix some paint damage that happened pre-delivery. I let them know about a month before that one of my center caps fell off my driver side front wheel. I thought it was just a piece of missing plastic, but it turns out there's a bolt that holds the axel...
