As others have pointed out - price comparo needs to include deductible & coverages. We have Sate Farm and they were $1000 less than Rivian insurance, with higher coverage limits
I'm betting that depending upon where you are there are probably owners who would happily show you the vehicle and probably show you more than you ever wanted to know?
Paying based on usage makes some sense with regard to the roads themselves. There could also be an argument made that reducing emissions/smog benefits others to some degree - we charge via solar so pretty low impact on the environment - certainly this is "worth" something?
I've never been a...
I know this is a little older thread, and I'm sure the OP has already figured this out, but here are a few data points - ours is R1S Adventure with Large Pack.
We regularly drive between Los Gatos & Truckee - 233 actual miles. We always stop at REI RAN chargers on the way up - I think we are...
Located in the Bay Area of Northern California (So Bay) - Love this vehicle: Replacing with a new Gen 2 R1S! We've had it since Oct 2023 and use it as a daily driver and occasional trips to Tahoe.
Build:
R1S Adventure Package
Quad Motor
Large Battery Pack
Glacier White exterior
Ocean Coast +...
Having center console refer in current RR as well as prev RR sport - I have to agree with Amit. I've thought about pulling one out of a totaled RR and seeing if it might fit in place of the speaker
Just had 12v battery failure that appears to be bad battery? They replaced under warranty thankfully. We've had the R1S for only 10 months (9,200mi). R1S gets driven 6-7 days/week, we charge in garage - typically run it between 50-70% as we tend to plug it in ~ every other day.
I got little...
Here we are setting everything up in the morning... had to figure out how to turn on the 120v outlets for the globe lights. Also placed the camp speaker up front and played a "Spooky Sounds" mix and it sounded great! Car was kneeling all the way down, but put a step in front for the kids...
Our trips tend to be to get somewhere (Tahoe or San Diego), so this post struck a chord.
Glad some (many?) have had some pretty good road trips. We know it will get better, but sounds like the reality of taking the Rivian too far from home many not be the most friction less experience right...
For those that are interested, you can buy an additional key fob by calling and ordering it. I have a service appointment in 8 weeks (!) and they are supposed to have it for me and will program then.
Another example of redesigning something and missing the mark. Key fobs have worked very well...
I bet that's got a lot to do with it SoCalRob - was thinking tonight (while coasting around in my gas guzzler, not the Rivian): what is the net/net of Regen nrg - power put back into the system due to no coasting. I noticed so many times tonight in traffic just coasting along at 25mph on flat...
As dleewla said - Customizing / tiling/ allowing drivers to modify to their taste is definitely where its at - we're talking UI here, not even function changes.
I would simply say - go copy the 2020 Range Rover... it has the Riv beat here hands down. Driver's view is customizable (choose...
Ok, so I think my order was probably dropped off just as I wrote the below... I'll own it. Was just about 2 weeks, so better than I thought. And the center caps came... cool!

Same - wheel center caps and some tshirts ordered just about 2 weeks ago, haven't shipped. Seems...
I tend to argue for more customization, not less. Some comparisons to manual trans/clutch leaning is similar in so far as getting used to it, but I don't see any good reason not to let this be user-selectable.
Having drivers "get used to" regen vs making it possible to turn off or turn way...
I have experience with Blizzaks & Hakkas on different heavy-ish SUVs: Cayenne, RR Sport & RR. Blizzaks (as you probably know) have great bite, sidewalls always felt a bit soft to me. I couldn't wait to rip them off in the spring.
Hakkas - grip just as great as Blizzaks (maybe better?), tire...
