16 seems like a really small number for all the people who would like to be moved up in line. I understand the trucks available are supposedly location dependent, but it makes zero sense they would have to ship your truck across country?
I read this as trying to mollify the earliest...
You must be new here. At no point has Rivian comms been easily interpretable or reliable.
Edit: To answer your question, the general consensus on this board is that the backend order system is a clusterfuck. It will be changing (for the better???) over the next few weeks.
Some interesting points from my CS chat just now:
1) I'll be invited to the Shop "in the near future" :CWL: (8/20 R1T Large Adventure now, from R1T Max Explore pre 12/21 delivery email)
2) There have been no updates to delivery windows up to this point (already suspected this). So my current...
One burns witches
One burns wood.
Witches burn because they are made out of wood.
The Rivian floats in water.
A duck floats in water [bread, apples, very small rocks, cider, gravy, cherries, mud, churches, lead].
If the Rivian weighs the same as a duck, then it is made of wood.
The Rivian weighs...
I also am in the same situation. I think pre-Shop we were at the dead end of the line. Even after May 31 2022 orders.
However, per my conversation with CS today, only preorder date matters. We will therefore be gettting invites based on preorder date, and not what your specific build is...
Not sure if someone already got this from CS, but they stated ONLY preorder date would dictate when you were invited to the shop. I will take that with a HUGE grain of salt.
Also stated my original delivery window didn't matter (I was Max Explore 1st half 2023 originally).
As an 8/20 R1T...
I very much agree the S is coming before the end of the year to customers. I just think most of the ones delivered so far have been to employees, and I suspect it'll be that way for a few more months. All told that'll be 6ish months. Kind of a cop out I know. :D
I would argue this isn't quite accurate. We knew of "production" vehicles getting shipped from June/July 2021. They shipped somewhere north of 1200 employee / youtuber / influencer / insider trucks through Feb 2022 (this year). VERY FEW vehicles were shipped to "regular" customers until after...
Can we take whatever money / time that is spent on marketing videos and put it into paying one good software engineer to fix the just horrible customer queue system? I'm not a software engineer, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that difficult to get daily delivery window updates based on...
I think this pretty much confirms the 2022 orders who got deliveries were not accidents. The ordering system was designed in such a way that there was only ONE delivery window generated. It never updated when you updated a config. So there may have been MANY people who changed orders to common...
I still find it astounding there wasn't ONE SINGLE PERSON who had ordered before you with your exact configuration? Something like 80k people in front of you.
It is truly insane that people are being forced to pay for a $2k accessory they don't want, in order to take delivery of a vehicle they do want.
To me this is the equivalent of a "market adjustment" by dealers. True sign of the times when no one can make (electric) cars fast enough...
