  1. $2500 Autonomy+ one time purchase now an option on Rivian configurator

I love UHF between SF bay area and Tahoe but not enough to pay $50. Will subscribe for a month in April for our road trip to Moab though. If they deliver point to point maybe will subscribe some more
  2. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

If solid state batteries are a few years out, EREV will be short lived. As someone else said, EREV are the gateway drug to EV.
  3. About to lease a R1T. Need some help.

2022 R1T: 12V battery replaced under warranty around 30k miles, tonneau cover replaced under warranty as well (no longer an issue with newer models it seems). Rear shocks and clutch disconnect replaced under warranty last year (both leaking). Love the truck. Got a 2025 R1S last September on...
  4. Scout Motors on trucks and SUVs: "you can't get into this segment as a poser"

I suspect that the Scout EV won't be that great range wise (35" tires, so so aerodynamics and not a huge battery. EREV makes more sense then.
  5. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

First EV was a 2014 S. Owned the whole line up. Sold the X in September and an R1S. So Tesla bets it all on Robotaxi. I see it as a viable Uber replacement and that's about it. Uber has nearly 10 million drivers worldwide and gross bookings of $50B a quarter. So if Tesla produces 10m...
  6. 20" Inch Best 20" Tire for Max Efficiency (R1S): On-Road with Occasional Snow Driving

They fit, but the car will be an inch lower. The Goodyear are 33" tall whereas the Pirelli are 34".
  7. Rival Tesla Model X to end production

Gambling the company on Robotaxi and robots seems a crazy. If they don't sell much, my expectation, how will they recover?
  8. 20" Inch Best 20" Tire for Max Efficiency (R1S): On-Road with Occasional Snow Driving

I do. On our R1T gen1 quad, we switched from the OEM Scorpion at 21k when one tire shredded on the freeway. We were getting 2.0 mpk and went to Toyo Open Country AT3 (LT version), and mpk has been around 2.06. After 20k miles, they're getting louder but not as bad as the OEM tires. They do very...
  9. Prospective Buyer - How Does Media from Phone Work?

Only used Android Auto a couple times when renting a car. I much prefer the Rivian interface. That being said, I got no music stored on my phone
  10. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

I think I read that Europe demand was already equal to the 2026 production capacity of the iX IIRC.
  11. 20" Inch Best 20" Tire for Max Efficiency (R1S): On-Road with Occasional Snow Driving

Our gen2 R1S dual max came with Goodyear Wrangler. We average 2.23 mpk so far. Most of the miles are between Tahoe and bay area.
  12. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Lots of exciting new options coming this year. One thing is for sure: these new options are going to seriously erode model Y sales going forward, especially with the removal of autopilot.
  13. Tesla kills Autopilot on new cars - Forces users to subscribe to FSD

It's a very dumb move, coming at a really bad time. Market has already voted against FSD (12% take rate). Tesla used to have the mid size SUV market to itself. Now, there are at least 4 compelling offerings arriving in 2026 (BMW, R2S, Merc, Volvo). I assume that all those competitors will have...
  14. The Volvo EX60 Cross Country Has Something The Rivian R2 Doesn’t

One thing is for sure: the segment is now crowded. R2 needs much better thermals than R1 to compete with these new entrants.
  15. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

We were the first to get an EV in the family back in 2017 (used model S). Since then, the rest of the family has joined. Nothing like riding in an EV to get it.
  16. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Makes sense. Also depends where one lives too. The iX3 range and fast charging sure hits a sweet spot though.
  17. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Seems to me that charging anxiety should be alleviated quite a bit in next couple years between Ionna, Walmart and Tesla v4 chargers. Did a road trip to Moab a couple years ago that sucked due to EA performance. I am going back this spring and there are 2 new Tesla SC, 2 Ionna stations and a...
