I think they need it to compete with Tesla and the others who are rolling out self driving.
BEVs struggle to get buyer interest, but if the vehicle can drive itself, it attracts buyers. I don't believe my friend would have gotten his MY if not for FSD.
I think UHF is equally important to the...
Yeah, these are the worst. 100% should be idle fees. Big ones.
As long as we have to share a limited number of spaces, you should move your truck when it has the charge you need, full or not. (I don't charge to full unless I need it.)
Arriving at a hotel, tired after a long drive, and...
The purpose of idle fees is to keep people from hogging the charging space when they no longer need to charge. If you wait until the station gets congested, it might not be enough notice for the a-hole to move his car.
And then the station is full, and there the a-hole sits, hogging the space...
Yeah, but then he will get up in the morning, go out to his truck, see it is the only one there and then get pissed off because he got an idle fee.
We are just going to have to agree to disagree on this. I have been the one who has pulled up to a row of a-holes, hogging all the charging spaces...
You didn't answer my question: how do you know a wave of travelers didn't come up at the same time, desperate for a charge, but your truck was sitting there fully charged? How do you know this didn't happen?
Have you heard about chaos theory? The fact is it can be empty for hours and then for...
How do you know the station didn't get busy while you were hogging that spot?
You seem pretty self-centered and selfish to me, unless you watched the space the entire time you were hogging it, so that you could move your truck if someone else needed that space. Did you?
Maybe you should get...
About a year ago my neighbor across the street got their first BEV - a Tesla Model Y. Very few others on my street have a BEV. A good friend of mine just got his first BEV as well, also a MY.
I think Rivian looked at the success of the MY, it's range and charging speed, and determined the R2...
I think the answer most people typically give is how traveling in a BEV is more relaxing because it forces you to slow down. It forces you to take time every time you stop to look at the clouds, the grass, the pavement, the trash, and whatever else is around you because that's what you should do...
You can't refuel a ICEV at home or at your hotel. You can't refuel it while eating at your favorite restaurant either.
You are correct: we can't replace 100% of the refueling done at gas pumps with DCFC. But we can with L2 destination charging. That's the key. And that is one of the cool...
Per another thread in this forum (and @tpepper above), the Sigen solution works for V2H with the R1. Therefore there isn't anything we are waiting for Rivian to do other than provide their own branded equipment that is similar to the Sigen solution. Which is not cheap, BTW. $10k minimum.
If the...
I don't remember seeing anything official, but hopefully the relationship with VW will give Rivian access to better supply channels, and maybe better part pricing. That is huge for a small business trying to compete with companies the size of GM.
