  1. What About That R2 Sunroof?

Iā€˜m neither a manufacturing person, not a marketing person so I’m probably not the best to answer. My take on it is two-fold: 1. If an option is more expensive to include but the manufacturer can also sell the item for more as a result or make a sale which would’ve been lost had they not...
  2. What About That R2 Sunroof?

I assume that the R2 will have a dynamic glass option like the Gen2 R1 vehicles. Before going from a Gen1 to a Gen2, I thought this was a gimmick with no practical value. After getting our Gen2 I realize that this is a legitimate feature which makes a HUGE difference for us and we spend a lot...
  3. New R2/R1S competitor models coming out in the next months (Tesla Model Y L, cheap model Y, Chevy Bolt)

Is the term ā€œClankerā€ what really triggers SkyNet?
  4. Loading a R1S with College Stuff

Nicely done! We’ve moved a LOT of stuff in our R1S and our past boxy SUVs. To me, the boxy cargo area is a defining characteristic of a true SUV. When the roof starts to taper at the back, the utility starts to get compromised when moving people and/or cargo. I think this is why a lot of folks...
  5. Anyone heard a lock sound like this?

That’s a warning sound which lets you know something isn’t fully closed on your R1T: doors, hood, gear tunnel doors, and maybe tailgate. I get the same noise on our R1S if I try to close the power liftgate when the tailgate isn’t fully latched.
  6. Vote for my wrap color, TWRAPS is using my R1T as their model for the full wraps

This reminds me of the VW Harlequin Polo and Golf from the mid ā€˜90s. The Golf Harlequin came this way from the factory:

Hauling 7 IKEA kitchen cabinets, a microwave, tools, a ceiling fan, and even the kitchen sink (literally) in an R1S. Backpacks and a cooler went in later. There’s a vacuum cleaner and more tools in the frunk. We love that our R1S has so much capacity while remaining a reasonable size on the outside!

Thanks. To be fair, these are pretty small boulders weighing no more than 400 pounds as a best guess.
  9. From Stock Color to Stunning: My R1S in Dark Blue Wrap

Your R1S really is gorgeous! I think that could (should?) be a factory option.
  10. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! šŸ“ø

No video, sadly. I’ll get some when we move it to its final location. This picture was taken after I moved it and when I was getting ready to take the tow strap off. We are building a cabin near Joshua Tree National Park (Pioneertown area, in the unlikely event anyone has heard of it) and we...

We put our Rivian to work moving a little boulder.
  12. REALLY hot HV battery on road trip

Did you manually precondition or was the charger set as a stop in the nav? If so, preconditioning may have been warming your battery rather than cooling it. You may want to read this post from this thread: Be careful using ā€œPrepare for fast chargingā€
  13. Brake Lights on Deceleration

I think the big difference is that the driver of a car with a manual transmission can choose to activate the brake lights by lightly applying the brake pedal without changing the vehicle speed perceptibly. I used to do that all the time when engine braking in a manual just to keep the distracted...
  14. Don't blindly follow the nav!

If only you’d gotten a CyberTruck! Then you could’ve driven off the ferry and followed nav to your destination.* That was a planned feature, right? :giggle: *If anyone reading this is a CyberTruck owner, don’t even consider actually doing this.
  15. Brake Lights on Deceleration

I agree and I want to add that while it’s certainly going to be the other driver’s fault, it’s also certainly going to be a hassle for the person who’s hit. I’d like to avoid that if possible and I agree with you that the brake lights should come on with less deceleration. I love OPD, have...
  16. Be careful using “Prepare for fast charging”

I forgot to mention that I’m on 2025.22.30. My very first post in this thread was when I was on 2025.18 and the manual preconditioning was broken but the automatic preconditioning worked as expected.
  17. Be careful using “Prepare for fast charging”

Don’t place too much stock in the warning regarding slower charging. I get that all the time in high outside temps with the a/c on even if there is no reduction in charging. I actually took a picture of that this morning because I almost laughed at how bad the management and notifications are...
  18. Be careful using “Prepare for fast charging”

It looks like there are still issues with this (at least in Gen 2) and, even worse, it now affects manual preconditioning as well as automatic if your use navigation to route to a charger. Previously, if I tried to manually precondition and it started warming a hot battery I could stop the...
