  1. What'd you name / nickname your Rivian?

Our California Dune is named Sandy.
  2. 12 Volt battery needed to change.

I agree with you and that’s just a silly reason to deny mobile service. In my opinion.
  3. Gen 2 R1S / R1T Turn Signal Recall: Turn Signal Inoperative

Here’s the text of the letter: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Rivian Automotive, LLC has decided that certain model year 2025 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108 -...
  4. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Yeah, sorry, when I wrote that over a year ago I should have written that the compressor noises OUTSIDE are normal. The vibration and related noise inside the cabin shouldn’t be excessive. I think there was a customer satisfaction campaign (or whatever Rivian calls them) within the last year for...
  5. R2 photo from RJ: "R2 battery, propulsion and chassis in marriage fixture before assembly to the body in our CA pilot line."

Probably 0 like the gen2 R1s. There is a reversible frunk shelf (carpet one side rubber on the other) and a slot to hold it vertical if you want.
  6. R2 photo from RJ: "R2 battery, propulsion and chassis in marriage fixture before assembly to the body in our CA pilot line."

Time will tell. If there is load leveling, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s part of a trim level or package to keep costs down on the base model.
  7. Does 2026 Quad Max Suggest There’s Nothing New in 2026 Other than NACS?

That looks like our setup but I strap it to the backs of the third row, too. Ours is a mess from sand and dust. We have a California Dune and I wish they’d used the same non-carpet floor covering for the cargo area, too.
  8. Does 2026 Quad Max Suggest There’s Nothing New in 2026 Other than NACS?

There is a picture earlier in this thread showing there are still tie downs, but the 4 tie downs are fixed rather than 2 sliding. Having four fixed and no track to collect crud is probably better for most people. I bought 2 extra sliding tie downs since we use ours to secure cargo frequently...
  9. R2 photo from RJ: "R2 battery, propulsion and chassis in marriage fixture before assembly to the body in our CA pilot line."

Maybe I’m seeing things but I thought part of the rear spring was showing as the shiny metal diagonal piece just inboard of the shock absorber with the flat portion at the top covered by a matte (rubber isolator?) piece:
  10. R2 photo from RJ: "R2 battery, propulsion and chassis in marriage fixture before assembly to the body in our CA pilot line."

I noticed two things on the suspension: 1. There’s an electrical connection on the front shock absorber portion, circled in red. It would be nice if this was for some kind of variable damping. I had the magneto-rheological suspension on a Corvette and I loved it. 2. It sure looks like the rear...
  11. California Gen1 R1S Rivian Black Logo All-Weather Mat Set

Price reduced: full set of 4 Rivian all-weather mats for Gen1 R1S (2022, 2023, and 2024) in limited all-black now $100 or best offer.
  12. Broken roof glass was replaced with a different type of glass

Yep. I got this one from my drone when I was taking a picture of our cabin build. Coincidentally, ours is also a California Dune.
  13. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! 📸

Other drivers probably thought the three of us were together, but it was just a random meeting with two other Rivians pulling up at a red traffic light. Please forgive the quality but I grabbed my phone, snapped the pic, and threw my phone back on the console in less than 10 seconds.
  14. Broken roof glass was replaced with a different type of glass

What you describe is what I was expecting so I was surprised when @ckropp330 reported the opposite. We went from a Gen1 to a Gen2 with dynamic glass roof, which I thought was a useless gimmick. Then we took our first trip to the desert in it and I was pleasantly surprised. There is a similar...
  15. Be careful using “Prepare for fast charging”

I just wanted to let anyone who was following this thread know that this bug appears to have been addressed with the 2025.22.30 update in my Gen2. I had a battery at 101°F and when I used the prepare for fast charging it immediately started cooling (not heating) the battery and got to...
  16. Broken roof glass was replaced with a different type of glass

The new glass probably stays cooler since it mostly reflects rather than absorbs light. Try parking in full sun for 15 minutes or so with the air conditioning on and measure the temperature (or touch) both the large front glass and the small third row glass. I bet you’ll see (or feel) enough of...
  17. Rear Ended in Denver

I’m sorry to see the damage to your truck but glad you made it through fine! I’m curious if you were using the brake pedal or one pedal driving (OPD) and if you were stopped, slowing, or going a steady speed when hit? It seems like a lot of Rivians get rear-ended and I wonder if it has...
