The US adopting the new EU regs would be a step in the right direction. I agree that there is a possible over correction that could happen which we donāt want either.
Re: ICE coastingā¦.unless engine braking, no ICE decelerates like most EVs when coasting (including something like the Taycan...
Hereās a great video that outlines why, objectively, this really is a problem. It highlights Hyundai/Kia but applies to most EVs, though some are slightly better than others.
Maybe 96%
I definitely agree with that principle on the rivian. Iām used to the Taycans charging curve so I rip it and go as far as I can (in out of spec style).
The universe has smiled upon me. We went out to lunch and found up front, isolated / protected parking with free charging (7kwh).
Itās not much but Iāll take the win ?
I agree. Although I knew it didnāt have it going in, and assumed it would never get it, I also assumed that meant they were putting a ton of effort into making it a good solution. Instead, itās half baked, buggy and really makes you crave something else, when it should be good enough that you...
Good luck! Iāve made the trip many times in my Taycan without issue, but I think things have gotten worse with the heat and EA derating all their chargers.
When I do it over again, I would charge to 100%, go 35W through Fort Worth and stop to charge at the EA at Samās Club. Iāve never had...
Finally got a halfway decent session going on EV Go this morning. Only halfway because a Tesla is charging on the other half of the 350kw unitā¦but they have Tesla chargers in the same. damn. parking lot. He must be a glutton for punishment.
Heās not getting any more than the Tesla V2 would...
Yeah, Iāve used ABRP and I guess it was my mistake thinking that Rivian announcing that integration was live meant the experience would be the same.
Theres 7393 things I did this time that I normally DONT do because I know better, but I wanted to be a typical EV owner and just trust the system...
Right, maybe I overlooked something but I initially assumed (bad idea) that it was fine because Iām pretty sure it had three lightning bolts. But I didnāt confirm until after.
Oh and none of this would be an issue if any of the hotels in the area offered destination /overnight charging. Itās just a family visit trip so we are in the āburbs and itās not like weāre staying at the Ritz but both hotels were built in the last few years (one even just this year) and still...
Yeah I felt fine going in one trip and normally map my trips manually but was feeling lazy and curious to see how the car handled it. My wife wanted to stop anyway, itās just weird it thought the 75kw stations were better than the 150+ 3 miles before.
My first rantā¦wasnāt expecting type this muchā¦
My trip from Austin to Dallas (yeah, 200 miles) was a (small) shit show today. First, the one thing that annoyed me with the route planning on vehicle nav was it wanted me to charge halfway. Annoying, but whatever, we need to stop and let the 2...
Just got our R1S back from the SC and they said the same - was āoverchargedā.
Iāve never met an AC technician that told me the charge was just right. Itās always over or under - I think itās a conspiracy! ?
