You seem to have taken my comment personally, I wasn't intending to cause offense, just pointing out that the removal of the factory points doesn't seem necessary, and seeing how others do it, should remove most of the R&D cost that might be incurred.
Would make for easier removal and...
You could run your cable through the rubber grommets behind the panel in the back of the truck... Either from the gear tunnel, or behind the seat... https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/reclaiming-empty-powered-tonneau-cover-space.13139/post-298758
Replaces? There's several other companies that have managed to work directly with the factory points, not sure what would be different about their roof rack that would necessitate that modification...
Would ice/snow chocks work ok for a slick boat ramp? You could try something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Snow-Wheel-Chock-10-1-Yellow/dp/B01J6INGZM
it's got textured teeth on the bottom that might bite down into the ramp better if the alge is thick...
But, you could get a shell... There's a company called LonePeakOverland that's making one:

Remember your manual actually states that this vehicle is not designed for a slide-in camper...

^ They're making one for Rivian. They've got an 'extra tall' option to clear the sharkfin, but with the delete, you could probably just go with their normal one. No deliveries just yet AFAIK, but I think they're getting close.
Edit, just looked, and it seems...
That one is a no-go for me because it uses the bolt locations for the side-mount molle panels from @builtrightind
It should, it uses the bolts that run along the top of the plastic panel, doesn't clip into anything in the tonneau slots...
This is awesome, and I had no idea stuff like this existed (coming not from other trucks, but other EVs instead...) I have the Molle panel at the front from @builtrightind, and he's also got some side panels coming (early April it looks like...)...
Oh man, I already have the molle panel from @builtrightind, I would love to see someone mock up a vertical access for that space, the Molle panel has already proved very useful!
I appreciate the quick response! I was definitely on the fence here, but I'm definitely headed for the molle panels there, so I'll continue with my DIY build. Thanks for getting this out to market so quick! Looks like an awesome product, and especially at this price!
There's a bunch of offroad recovery companies that use Badlands winches...

Just three, but they basically swear by the badlands stuff (I don't think either are affiliated with...
Is @DCE going to make covers for the parts where the plastic panels were removed? I would just want that for the clean look, as well as some dirt/snow protection like the plastic provided...
Xtrusion Overland makes a rack for the R1T that would get you a few things... You can make it tall enough to match the roof bar height, meaning you'll have a straight mount from front to back, or you can match it to the roof height for better airflow... Then just use spacers if you want to...
Hell yeah man, having just bought the parts, that's a pretty minor markup for the amount of work that would need to be put into it from someone doing it themselves. I hope you get a good system worked out and get a few of these to keep you busy! :D
Ok, I'm jumping on the bandwagon for this build, you guys made it look awesome. :) I saw what I assume is @Bf3 's FB post with a video, and the pictures here from @dga965 are awesome too. I'm definitely confident in my ability to do this, but I'm trying to figure out the materials list.
So...
Anyone found a seat cover that protects just one seat? I've got 2 carseats in the back (passenger and middle) and want to protect the driver side rear seat from dogs, but I can't put in my dog hammock, because that can't go under the car seat for safety reasons...
Probably a weird request...
