Wondering what they could possibly do to make it special at this point. I have to imagine they're holding something back but not sure what it could be that would do that.
That and the inability to make a powered tonneau cover are 2 misses for Rivian which are a shame.
It remains to be seen how good the CT frunk is vs lightning. And if their tonneau holds up in the real world. I already dont like that you cant see out the back window with the tonneau closed.
I've been happy with this one:

The trick is instead of front or back lift to pull it out, you pull from the side and it comes out easily.
You can buy a Tesla->J1772 adapter now from Lectron and others. It wont work for SuperChargers but works for the destination, home and portable chargers.
Example...
That change in range when you go into tow mode is an estimate of your range when towing. It starts off somewhat pessimistic but then adjusts as you tow based on how its doing. The algorithm isn't great and isn't quick enough to adapt etc (so dont trust it) but it does try to notice your...
Im not handy but my family members are 5' so I needed it and installed the 1EV ones myself on my R1T. It wasnt that bad but it takes a while to do. I saw the 1EV folks offering to install for $199 but they're nowhere near MA. For $199 its a no brainer if you can find someone. Not sure where that...
The rivian one is overpriced and constantly out of stock. The Tesla one is readily available and has a long history of working well.
I have a Tesla HPWC signed by Elon (referral award) unopened. I chose to buy the ChargePoint instead of calling an electrician etc to use the Tesla HPWC.
I have a Tesla Model S (2014 originally, currently a 2018). I used a tesla mobile charger at home for 9 years. But it was never unplugged so no worries on the NEMA 14-50 plug. But it was limited to 32A. For the Rivian I wanted the full 40a plus I wanted a smart charger I could set timed charging...
After the first leg I checked all the connections and reseated things. Still got those temp popups on the way back. It was wet today vs last time when it was dry. I've seen others complaining about wet and the wiring harness connector. Maybe something going on there on more than one truck.
I have a 2 horse (plus dressing room) kingston I tow too. So far just made sure it worked and drove it empty.
Yeah the regen on the Rivian at slow speeds when trailering/connecting a trailer/positioning it seems a handicap but it could just be re-training. Also connecting up solo is always a...
So the tractor was finally ready and I got a chance today to go pick it up. Here's some stats:
Weather was about 65F. Roads were wet with rain on and off, sometimes heavy but mostly just drizzly.
I charged to 100%, said 284 miles in all purpose. I drove no faster than 65mph on the highways...

I didnt attach it to the floor in any way. Hasnt moved in months. We bump into it every time we pull in and it just sits there. Very sturdy. I got the one that can handle 2 charging cords but only am using...
Nice. I thought about this but none of the cable lengths worked without either moving the plug (electrician) or adding an extension cord. I also didnt want to look up and see all that so I went for a simpler solution on the floor which also serves as a "stop here" mark for pulling the truck in...
