Hey all, I received my 2023 LE R1S the beginning of June and still getting used to some of the noises. One that strikes me as odd is the sound of running water while charging, almost reminds me of a fish tank sound. I assume it might be battery cooling related but wasn’t sure if this is common or if this is something I should put in a service ticket for? Attached a brief video clip of the sound from a charging session today.

Sounds like the battery cooling fan.

Mine definitely doesn't make fish tank noises when charging.

Yeah it’s strange, definitely caught me off guard when I walked into my garage and heard the sound of running water. The sound does goes away when the charging session is done. Maybe I’ll have the service center check it out during an upcoming appointment to be sure.

The subtle/faint fan noise isn’t the concern, it’s the distinct sound of water running that I’m curious about, doesn’t seem like a normal thing, at least to be that audible.

Mine does not make this noise. Do you want to trade the AC going into launch mode noise for your fish tank water running noise?

Mimicing cicadas. Luckily that should mean it only does it for a few weeks once every 7 or 17 years.

Unrelated... but maybe not. I have a home bar in my basement with some glass front beverage coolers. They are very low power and the type you would use to put cans in and one is a wine chiller. Anyway, they always sound like this. It's like you are walking into a submarine or something and they "gurgle" all the time. They have very low power and quiet fans (kind of like some new refrigerators that are really just coolers and not actual refrigerators which is why they are so efficient and when you go to a vacation home they say not to load them with warm food because it will take a long time to cool off and could make unsafe temps for the food while doing so.

Anyway, I have been told it is the coolant in them recondensing in the coolant pack. I wonder if this is the same thing?

Does this happen every time?
2022 LE R1S and it has happened twice that I can think of in 2k miles we've had it and the first time I just assumed it was coming from one of the floor drains. Going to pay more attention.

Yeah it could be completely normal, just the battery cooling happening. I reached out to service so we will see what they say.

It does happen every time I charge at home on the Rivian L2 charger. I suspect it also happens when charging in public but it’s just not as audible do to all the other noises going on. But when at home, charging in the very quiet garage it is very noticeable.

I also charge almost exclsively at home, in a very quiet garage. Still never heard this noise before.
