I forgot to update this chat. All four air springs replaced (2 front dampers as well), jounce lines and both front half shafts and hubs.
The truck feels like a new car, the only noise left are axel play. This however, is a design issue that needs to be addressed (and they might be working on...
Definitely.
They are better, softer (the dampers) and quieter. But the noise were after is half shaft design. They replaced my half shafts, and the hubs - I feel the same noise in the video captured with the phone inside while he moves them.
wait - just re-read this. It’s actually on all four wheels, so this just might actually be it. I drove a gen2 last week and it also has the same noise.
I don’t have any data other than I could feel them vastly different. The whole car is softer now. I believe these are the ones gen2 vehicles use now as they have the same PN and this is one of the reasons gen2s feel softer. There is some data that they now use Firestone rubber instead of...
I was very specific. I said I felt vibrations through the accelerator pedal with the compressor was at full demand. I also explicitly said I know this retrofit is specifically for that.
here are some pics of the brackets installed. Pretty sturdy.
Dampers should always get replaced in pairs. But with the disparity in dampers, I would 100% request them all to be replaced. They are vastly different spring rates. My SC replaced all four air springs.
I know that sound exactly. I have updated jounce, updated air springs (all over), new hubs and axels (front only). I hear that noise coming from all four corners. I think it’s axel design (play). I have pulled the wheels off and the only thing I find slack is on axels.
That being said, gen2’s...
The new airbags/struts quieted things a lot. Removed the thump on speed bumps. The only thing I feel is small clunks over surface irregularities (minor) and in pretty certain both gen1s and gen2s have them as this is probably axel play. Today I have heard yet a proper fix for this
Great post! Funny I saw very similar items.
I drove a gen2 for about 40 minutes and felt while the suspension was a bit different, I wouldn’t call it an improvement. Funny enough our gen1 now has the same struts as the gen2 and they feel very similar in rebound.
With regards to the AC...
