I really like Catalina Cove...on the R3 though, not as much on the R2. I do wish Rivian would've offered something in a deep red, a burnt orange, or a dark yellow, but I'm about the millionth person to make that statement. :)
When I took that picture looking down at my feet from the back seat, there were two BIG guys in the front seats. I'm not sure about their heights, but they were very rotund. I was so shocked with the leg room that I asked them if they were far back enough to be comfortable, and they said yes.
No, I looked and asked. No "oh shit" handles on the R2. The guy said they aren't including them because the R2 is a size that most people can slide in and out without needing the handles.
I've been lucky enough to see five different R2 colors in person over the last couple weeks, including the three at the both Chicago locations this weekend. Here are some of my pics.
I know I'm in the minority, but so far my favorite color is white.
Welp, I was planning to swing by the Rivian factory when I was in Normal later today, but now I think I'll stay away since they've got a situation on their hands. Hopefully nobody was hurt.
Is that area really the "plant delivery zone"? I've been there (and will be there again this weekend), and just thought that was the main entrance to the factory.
First of all, it's always nice to see deliveries leading production.
Secondly, the R2 is about to explode those numbers over the next couple years. This isn't like Tesla adding a model that increases their deliveries by a fraction. The R2 will be a literal multiplier.
I'm gonna take the odds against that happening. I mean, the "other guy" was a fraud way before he became a billionaire, and the money just allows him to throw his weight around now. RJ seems like a genuinely good dude with a good moral foundation, and I'm guessing he'll stay that way.
I live a few hours from Normal, but if I were closer to the factory I'd volunteer to guide tours for free one day per week. I'm retired, so I'm always doing volunteer work anyway. That doesn't solve the safety and scripting issues, but at least it wouldn't require a paid employee's time.
I'm potentially interested in a mattress for the R2 because I do animal rescues that require cross-country driving. I usually get hotel rooms, but I've thought the R2 might be big enough to sleep in, and therefore save money on hotels. I guess my requirements for a mattress would be ease of...
I prefer dark/black interiors. I get really dirty and really wet sometimes at work, and I don't want to worry about whether my jeans are staining the seats.
