Yeah, putting a card reader on the dispensers like a normal gas pump is awesome, especially for newbs who might get discouraged by downloading a hundred different charging apps.
I wouldn't call them cheap, but they're certainly my favorite type of station to use nowadays. I'm in Missouri, and IONNA has built out quickly along the I-70 and I-55 corridors, so I use them fairly often. (Even though I currently drive a Model 3.)
I'm not sure widely this was publicized, but this weekend there will be meetups at IONAA Rechargeries across the country.

Finished plowing, and I think the snow will stop soon so I don't think I'll need to go back out. Very impressed with this so far. My neighbor was out on his quad and I let him drive this for a bit. He couldn't get past how silent it is--all you can hear is the plow scraping the gravel.
Well, you've got a collector's item at least. I was sad to see Energica go under...I had considered buying one to replace my Honda CB500X, but ultimately decided to just stop riding a motorcycle (for now).
I plowed two miles of 8-inch snow on a gravel road this morning, and it used 24% of the battery. I'm impressed by that. I was in 4WD the whole time. Had to stop because my face was numb. It's plugged in now (the screen said 15 minutes to get it from 69% to 80%), and I'll head back out as soon as...
No, it's a fairly beefy battery, so you might need a forklift to move it around. It's 9x bigger than my 1 kwh Goal Zero backup battery, and even that's pretty heavy to move around by hand.
Really depends on your use case. The guy who owns my Can-Am dealer told me he was pretty sure Can-Am is going to release an EV side-by-side soon, so you'll at least have the option if you're shopping around.
There will at least still be parts available, I know that from experience. Whether it runs or not in 100 years, depends on how it's treated by the next guy.
It's funny, but with farm equipment you don't really think about range in terms of miles. You think about how much time you can spend using it. So for most applications around the small farm, that time is almost endless (because it's not using energy while it's stationary).
I just finished plowing snow. Not heavy snow...just about 4-5 inches of powder so far. I was in 4WD the whole time, with the plow scraping a gravel road. In total it was almost 1 mile of plowing and it used about 10% of the battery. Better than I expected.
Definitely a big hit to efficiency, and thus range. Probably by about 1/3 from what I can tell so far. I just finished reading the user manual, and learned how to precondition the battery in cold weather. I went out and got that started a little bit ago (they recommend at least 15 minutes of...
Yep, I'm waiting for the snow to build up a bit and then I'm heading out to plow.
I was surprised at how the ATV is almost as big as the tractor when I parked them next to each other. In my mind, the tractor is about twice as big.
It depends on what you mean by "enjoyment." The max range is 55 miles, so this isn't made for long-range adventure trail riders. At least not unless there are Level 2 chargers along the trail.
I haven't put this to the test yet, but don't think I'll ever run out of juice for the kind of work...
I just bought Can-Am's brand new Outlander Electric quad. This is the first mainstream electric fourwheeler available in North America (do we count the Cyberquad children's toy that got recalled?).
This thing is a friggin beast. It's surreal to drive it--basically makes no sound while...
I'm also a potential future Rivian owner, but wanted to say I was bummed when Engineering Explained did his recent video about all the problems he's had after switching from Tesla to Lucid. Lucid has so much potential, but it seems they're missing the trees for the forest.
I'd recommend looking at the Grizzl-E website if you haven't yet decided on an EVSE. I say that from experience. I have a 60 amp box in my garage, and wired my EVSE to a 40 amp circuit so it could pull 32 amps safely. But even at 32 amps, my car would stop charging randomly sometimes because I...
