I'd like to be able to add a V2H turn-key hardware kit when I'm configuring the R2. It could be manufactured, licensed, or just approved by Rivian...I don't really care as long as I know it'll a) be everything I need, b) be tested by Rivian, and c) be relatively easy to install for a...
I think it shows a sort of institutional integrity at Rivian that you don't see at...ummm...a certain other US EV company that would've happily played the bait-and-switch game with its customers.
The AWD Premium at $54K would be my pick if I lived with snowy winters. The RWD Standard at $49K with the "normal" battery pack would be my pick for areas without snow.
I've never understood the hype around robotaxis. Even if autonomous driving is fully solved. I did a quick search and the total worldwide revenue for taxi/ridehailing services in 2024 was $271 billion USD.
With an extremely generous price to revenue (P/S) ratio of 4.0, that would value the...
It has regen, so yeah I guess if you were desperate. :) My property is on a long hill, so as it regens while I'm going downhill I often see the range go up on the display.
Beyond looking dumb, the CT is saddled with a stigma that makes it unbuyable for me. Every time I see one, the first thing that pops into my mind is "loser." I'm sure they'll sell some of these de-rated models at the new price, but that won't do anything to change the stigma. It might even make...
This is obviously a WAG, but assuming Rivian has 200,000 reservations (reported a year ago), and assuming people on this forum loosely represent R2 reservation holders, then Rivian has pent-up demand for at least 100,000 R2s at the $60K price point. (52.3% of 200,000 = 104,600) That would keep...
Welp, we were left hanging on pricing, which made today's big reveal a bit of a let-down IMO. I guess that means this poll is still relevant for another month.
Well at least you're not exactly slumming in the Mach-E.
It's an interesting point though. Like for me, if lower-spec R2s don't start to ship until the R3 gets close to production, that would definitely make me consider switching to an R3.
I considered that. I personally won't buy it until it gets LIDAR, but I guess the poll is feature-agnostic and only considers the price point. It's hard to account for all the various specs in a simple poll, but you're right that's gonna be a huge factor.
When I was a kid, I rode up-and-down the Pacific Coast Highway in the back of a Subaru Brat, with no seatbelts and lots of pre-catalytic converter exhaust. It didn't did me any hurt. Me brein werks swel.
I've got a reservation for an R2, but I suspect the initial deliveries will be priced higher than I'm willing to spend for a vehicle. So I'm wondering if Rivian will face a Cybertruck-like drop in actual orders vs reservations due to a higher MSRP than what has been widely expected for the base...
I'm loving this thing SO much. It's so nice not having to spend time struggling to start my old tractor when it's cold out. (I sold my old Ford 8N last week BTW. Took me one day to find a buyer.)
I'm a beekeeper, so this is what a lot of my work looks like. Just based on my experience so far, I...
If the R2 can provide backup power to my house during an grid outage, it'll drastically change the economics of the purchase. I installed solar panels a few years ago, and was told at the time that backup batteries would add about $30K to the system. So if the R2 costs me $50K, it'll kinda be...
