I have the same brand, but mine converts the TT (30A 120V) into a 14-30 outlet (30A 240V). It works with my gen1 Tesla mobile connector and adapters (then I've got a Tesla-to-J1772 adapter so I can charge my R1S with it). It works great.
Just make sure you get one (like the linked one above)...
Same thing in Seattle. Corporate called to say someone from the local service center would call me to schedule, they never did. I called in and the first appointment was 6 months out. I asked if they could bring it in...it's now around 4.5 months.
This is for stuff that was broken at delivery...
Sorry, I haven't looked in to other options as the screen for my rear-view camera happens to have a cable that is just long enough to plug it in to the rear 12V outlet of my R1S. (That's the ONLY place in recent R1S that has a 12V outlet).
But that's not convenient. I saw some mention of a 12V...
The good news is, I finally got an appointment for the above issue that I noted in June. (Which is worse than I thought...the 12V outlet doesn't work either, so we can't use our backup camera when we tow).
The bad news is, the first available appointment is in December. I knew it wouldn't be...
My appointment to have this problem (120V and 12V outlets not working) looked at is...Dec 13. 6 months after I reported the problem!
I had a perfectly good EV before the Rivian. Being able to use the outlets for camping and towing (we have a 12V rear-view camera) was part of why we traded in. I...
My wife has a perfectly good tow vehicle, but wanted to try using my Rivian to tow our trailer to Fort Flagler State Park in Washington. She sent this photo tonight, near sunset.
Leave the aero caps on the 21" wheels.
Don't get the underbody shielding (which is now part of the all-terrain upgrade).
I don't think there's a lot else you can do.
Heh - great photo.
Launch green/forest edge wasn't our original plan either, but it's what we ended up with and the longer we have it, the more I like it.
I would go out of my way to not do business with a company like that.
I would make sure Rivian knows about this "standard charge". I would hope the charge would either go away, or Rivian would certify another company in the area.
My wife just towed her trailer behind our R1S for the first time. It wasn't a long trip, but she got 1.55mi/kWh.
The trailer is a 21' Safari Condo Alto A2124, which is about 3,000lbs empty (it was very much not empty on this trip!). It has a somewhat aero-friendly design - it's likely near...
It's great that you got a loaner...that sure makes issues like this a lot easier to take.
Of course, you have to get an appointment first...
I wonder how many panels they have to remove to replace the main body harness. May your technicians be both skilled and careful!
I got my R1S on June 8. My wife left on a camping trip this morning towing her trailer, and while trying to hook up the rearview camera, I discovered this issue as well. There wasn't time to get an extension cable, but our camera had a long enough cord that we could plug it in to the back 12V...
Recap: I submitted a ticket on June 17 saying that my 120V outlets won't turn on. No error message, but neither one works, and the car says they are off immediately after I ask to turn them on. The battery had plenty of juice, rebooting the car didn't help, trying both the Energy and Camping...
My guide was always very responsive and helpful.
The guy that delivered the car was fantastic.
Now that I have my R1S, service turnaround time is...disappointing. My 120V outlets don't work. About a week after submitting a ticket, someone from corporate called to make sure I'd tried resetting...
I got mine today. First, without the covers (note that I switched out my Pirelli ATs tires for Michelin AS; between the tires and aero covers, I'm hoping I'll pay only a small penalty for getting 20"s rather than 21"s):
And then with the covers:
And of course a full side view of the car...
I appreciate all the work and ideas that have been shared in this thread.
Here is a drawer that I just purchased. Like the others, it doesn't lock because Rivian made that complicated - but it does use the latch to hold it, and I think it takes a very reasonable amount of pressure to insert and...
Yeah, what chrismc said. I love heat pumps, especially since they work really well where I live. But I can see why a new OEM might prefer to go with a resistive heater, at least at first:
It's cheaper
It's less complex
It warms up faster (luxury makes with a heat pump might ALSO have a...
Thanks for the idea...but it appears that is not the problem. The fuse appeared fine, and replacing it with a spare didn't help.
So perhaps I have a bad inverter. Who knows when Rivian might decide to get around to looking at it. We thought these outlets would be handy on camping trips, but I...
