This.
I chose Nationwide precisely for the off-road coverage because I beat my R1S up on the trails.
However, training is the best insurance you can buy. It prevents you from breaking stuff, getting stuck, and needing to place an insurance claim to begin with. Training is the only way to...
Hi =)
To the OP's question: Volume varies significantly between sources (different streaming apps, Bluetooth, radio, etc) and the program material itself whose recording and mastering processes can vary wildly.
How loud you set your volume largely depends on the source and program material. It...
@Alanca3 Thanks for this excellent rundown of proper methodology from a pro! I ported my home acoustics-based methodology to the car to diagnose a glaring performance issue. It helped me identify the central issue (a massive SPL swing centered at 1 kHz), but I quickly understood it wasn't...
Rock sliders. I thought my Megawatts were overbuilt until I landed on a rock hard coming down a descent that would have done significant damage to my door.
Anyone find their Gen 1 driving experience got smoother after this update? Starting and stopping feels less jerky in both All Purpose and Sports modes, almost like the behavior of break on/off has been optimized.
Love my Gen 1. Pre-price hike quad with EV tax credit and FG interior? C’mon!
Until FSD lets me go to sleep and wake up somewhere else, I’m going to keep driving myself.
Thanks!
I agree. I think it's worth a shot. It can turn a horrible experience into a tolerable one. That' happened to me when the Elevation system had a significant 1 kHz issue caused by bad DSP. Adjustments made it tolerable until Rivian fixed it with an OTA.
I actually measured this in a Gen 1 R1T Meridian and an R1S Elevation (my vehicle). See my signature for links to the data.
Cabin volume and distance didn’t make nearly as big of a difference in bass response as I expected. I’d say there is some infrasonic benefit to having the R1T’s subwoofer...
Heck yeah, a man after my own heart! So you were using digital crossovers? Were you installing fully active systems? I always wondered about the benefits of a fully active systems in a car and how one would manage the sheer number of amplifiers you'd need. I looked at going fully active in my...
Thanks!
100%. Most chest, particularly from male vocals, and the body of acoustic guitars/cellos also live in the 500 Hz range. This is a really important range to get right, but also a hard one to get right by ear.
I find EQ'ing the 400-600 Hz range (mid-bass) easier after locking in bass and...
Yup, all my settings and methodology posted here. I have a Gen 1 R1S Elevation.

The frustration Gen 2 owners have about the sound system motivated me to write up a post about how to improve their sound until I or someone else with measurement capability can measure a Gen 2 vehicle and provide specific EQ recommendations.
Hope it helps.
How to Improve Your Sound System...
Hey all,
Been seeing a lot of frustration with the Gen 2 sound system, particularly after the last update, 2025.34.30.
Since I haven't been able to coordinate with a Gen 2 owner to measure system performance and make recommendations, I thought I'd offer a way to improve your sound yourself...
I do some fairly rough and technical off-roading. I upgraded my tie-rods as a precaution after a few of my compatriots bent or broke theirs on the trails. I carry a set of inner rods as trail spares.
I posted details here...
I wonder if we can save EQ profiles per encoding type, e.g., stereo vs. Dolby Atmos. That'd be pretty rad.
Also interested to hear how the Gen 2 audio refinements perform. It sounds like Rivian paid attention to the feedback.
Makes sense to me. I bought a set of inners as spares and gave my old rods to the local Rivian Club to help anyone who breaks a rod during a trail event.
