@ivinio21 Thanks for doing this and sharing photos. I wondered whether swapping to Meridian hardware would improve anything. You confirmed that the benefits are limited, which leads me to believe the difference between Elevation and Meridian has more to do with DSP and/or crossover networks than...
Yeah, I had this same question while listening this morning. Without being able to save a custom EQ, we can't easily A/B the new default with a custom setting. The best thing to do will be to measure the new default and see how it differs from the old default then adjust from there.
Atmos adds...
Yes. I noticed a significant increase in the system’s output level.
It’s a matter of making time to do it. I still haven’t written up my results from taking Gen 2 Premium measurements, but this update may make those results moot.
Let’s see if I can square away some time after school starts...
The crossover issue (if one exists) is centered at 1 kHz. I'd be surprised if the subwoofer were playing anywhere near that frequency. I'd expect it to crossover to the midrange drivers around 80-100 Hz.
1 kHz is where midrange drivers tend to crossover to tweeters.
I also suspect the crossovers but I hypothesized Rivian left the original crossover when they swapped to the elevation speakers. If swapping back to the Meridian speakers produces the same result, then something else is going on.
Can you run acoustic measurements for us to compare?
Thanks buddy! Always glad to run into another audio enthusiast on these forums.
Was that the Volvo that implement Dirac? If so, that system is the predecessor to Dirac’s new Active Room Treatment product which propagates inverted waves to actively cancel reflections. I always wanted to hear...
This is helpful, thanks. It's interesting that they said "the Rivian Elevation audio experience." I wonder what that means.
I'll try to put their "tune our audio system based on owner feedback moving forward" goal to the test.
[Cross posting from the R1S Elevation thread.]
At long last, I got together with @skyote to measure his Gen 1 R1S Meridian. We met at the Austin Showroom where Skyler made it possible to measure the Gen 2 R1S Premium. It was hot out but we had a good time.
I'm going to post write-ups of both...

I'm going to post write-ups of both systems in 3-4 weeks after I get back from...
If you mean a separate controller to boost the sub's output, I'd be skeptical about the benefit that would give us. The stock sub has modest output at best. Boosting a middling sub tends to cause more issues—distortion, rattling, dynamic compression, and overheating to name a few—than it solves...
Glad you found it useful.
Good question.
I’m skeptical about the value of Atmos in a vehicle. Here are some reasons why.
Dolby Atmos is an encoder/decoder, not an upmixer, so it only works with Atmos-encoded content from a streaming service that supports it, like Tidal. That’s where I’d...
Glad to hear the settings helped. I didn't know about that bug will keep an ear out for it. Thanks for sharing!
For those with an electronica/experimental bent, Bubbles by Yosi Horikawa does a mind-bending job of moving sounds around the stereo field because it was recorded with a binaural...
Agreed. Tidal sounds significantly better. I find this to be true of the mobile and desktop apps as well, even on Spotify’s highest quality setting. I think Spotify uses very aggressive lossy compression.
So cool. Looks like the S let off the pedal when the Huracan caught up. Though I suspect the Huracan would overtake it after 100 mph or so when the S runs out of headroom (or the governor kick in).
