I feel you. We extended a little further - Adventure trim, 20" wheels, but base price color/interior because I'm a teacher. It was a reach I wanted to make. I could have absorbed a few thousand more, but sadly that's about it.
I guess that I should be thankful that this is the most upsetting...
We're out. We may wait for the option to drive one, but with our order up nearly 20K, it isn't a question of if we want to afford it, we simply can't.
We'll see where the market on electric trucks is in 5 years.
What I don't understand is why they went so big. I could see swapping the manual...
The funny thing is, I had watched that video. I didn't really think about how that is Ocean Coast/LA Silver. That's the takeaway for me - it either goes together fine or it really isn't that important to match the interior/exterior because there are so few places where they contact. In either...
I can imagine that. What I really want to know, if anyone has seen it, is:
How does Ocean Coast look with white and silver?
Sure, if it were the same price I'd pair it with blue or red, but I'm not one to put extra money into paint.
Yep, the Rivian clearly looks better with more clearance. This might be my 4x4 bias. I've never liked lowered trucks or large rims (though I don't ever want to go back to 15" rims). That said, as an EV the ability to be low, and then be cranked up for off-road use, is essential and worth driving...
I don't believe there is a tire out there comparable to the 20" Pirelli at this time. Everything else is much heavier and will likely eat your range. Maybe in a few years.
That's not a very good system, at least as it pertains to ICE vehicles. EV's are heavy, we can assume they will cause their share of road damage and that this will go up with weight (decline with efficiency). For ICE vehicles, those getting 40mpg or higher are light and likely contribute little...
If I wasn't going offroad, I'd get the 21". The additional range/efficiency seems like it would nicely complement the upfront savings. I'd get the spare tire for sure, making me worry less about tire loss, but I'd be a little more hesitant to get the 21" in the R1S. Of course in SoCal I'm pretty...
All true. Of course the only entity that must guarantee free speech is the government. Spotify need not provide a platform for Rogan. Neil Young need not allow Spotify to use his product if they support an idiot who has likely contributed to unnecessary deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic...
I really just want to be able to wire in my iPhone or plug in a usb drive. Given the relative failure of the wireless charge pad (which wouldn't really excite me if it worked well), this seems like a good idea anyway.
Any chance Rivian will reconsider Carplay given this ?:
Spotify to pull Neil Young's music
Just kidding, but it does show how it sucks to focus on one service rather than letting the customer decide. I'm pretty sure I wasn't paying for any Spotify service anyway, but the deal is sealed now.
Everything I've seen so far seems to be heavier than the stock tire. You might find something with a more efficient tread pattern, but will that save range if you have to move a heavier tire? I don't know the answer, but as with the 21", we might see more EV designed 20" tires in the future.
I tried satellite radio and didn't care for it. Of course I have hours and hours of music dowloaded on my phone to listen to if I don't have cell service. I just want the ability play that downloaded music, preferably via usb for sound quality though I often use bluetooth for simplicity. That's...

Still limited info:
“A Rivian-owned prototype vehicle was involved in an accident near our Irvine facility yesterday. The Rivian employee at the wheel was uninjured, and the accident’s cause was driver...
I have never purchased a 70K ICE vehicle and would never have done so (our last purchases have been a 4Runner and a Prius). I understand that many people do purchase vehicles in that price range regularly, but we will be doing so only to allow the purchase of an off-road capable EV truck. Of...
