I haven’t had to yet! But isn’t that what a compact spare does anyway? My theory is that I’d only need it for a short distance anyway to get somewhere I can deal with it properly (tow, etc). I don’t off-road so am never far from assistance.
ps I bought them from 1010 tires in Coquitlam (close to Ikea) and keep using them to swap every season - been very happy with their service, and I know they have at least a few Rivians that they work on regularly.
Doesn't exist, as far as I'm aware.
I have the 21s, and I just got a cheap set of 20" rims and good winter tires, and I swap them in the different seasons, and use one of my "off season" wheels/tires as the spare.
Works great.
Oh wow - that is hilarious! What a fantastic attitude, you and your wife need to spread some of that around wherever you go :) Enjoy the island (but don't break down, BC Ferries will no longer transport an EV that needs to be towed - we don't need another chapter of "but it gets worse...")
That's a pretty nice camping spot :)
Were your 120V plugs on? Running my inverter with the plugs (even if I don't have a 120V draw) pulls more power than I "wish" it did... Probably similar numbers to what you got?
There were some great platforms made in the early days that were shown on here. Will need a search, but they could give you a great base (but the seats were flipped up, so might not work in this case, actually)
For me the answer would depend on the stage of life I was in. Now (kids and too many time commitments) I wouldn’t get an EV if I couldn’t charge at home. When I was younger/single and had way more flexible time - I would (knowing what I do now). Good luck with the decision!
Yeah, take it all with a huge grain of salt. I’m about 27 months in and still LOVE driving it. Best vehicle I’ve ever had. I’ve only had a couple of very minor issues (cosmetic really) and the SC took care of things really well. There are definitely issues out there, but way less common than the...
Enjoy your new ride! I don’t use the feature much, but the major highways have it and it was handy coming back from Penticton (on the Coq) last week. Personally, I don’t use it when there’s traffic, just when it’s easy coasting on open highways.
I can’t remember if I was using it on the island...
Yup, sadly this is one item that never worked well from the beginning and unfortunately is easier to just forget about, and go with either a plugged in approach or buy an aftermarket. I only need need to charge my phone while driving a few times a year, so I just leave a cord in the center...
Nah, been running those tires in the low 50s and didn't notice anything weird. Run my stock 21s around 48-49 cold, have never "felt" (literally) the need to make a change. But definitely curious to run the numbers on the winter tires, and learn more about this chalk test!
At times like that I like to think that Lady Luck was keeping me away from a car crash or something else bad. I don’t actually believe it, but I like to choose the positive outlook!
Interesting, I’ll run some numbers to see how close I’ve been running them. Currently quite happy that winter tires are not on my mind at the moment :)
Hope you're not still stuck! I've seen some thoughts before depending on the problem - push the handle in first, press and hold the button for a couple of seconds, reboots and - just wiggle and pull harder - it might just be very snug
Let us know what happened and what got you unstuck...
