I think your assessment of the data provided to you is fairly accurate. I think everyone just has to be really clear on how much of the battery they are willing to use, what efficiency can be expected, and what reasonable charging times are on a personal level.
I'm getting about 2.3-2.4mi/kWh...
Tuxmat has not updated the drivers mat for 2025. It fits but a little weirdly over the new hump in the floor. It’s not a safety issue but I messaged them and asked if they would be updating it and they said yes. They’re going to ship me a 2025 version once they make them. Excellent customer service.
Sure seems like the vast majority of the testing was done on gen 2. Mine has been with minimal issues as well. Fixed with one soft reset.
Sorry gen 1 crew, I think Rivian is having some growing pains learning to pull off updates on two different versions of their vehicles (way more so than just...
Anyone else noticed a unique configuration in the shop that you couldn’t otherwise get even with a custom order?
They have this dual max listed with the std 20” wheels, no AT package. The builder won’t let you do this. 380mi range is unique to it as well it seems.
Yeah, Tesla has allowed this from the app forever, so that seems to take the legal argument out. The Rivian app leaves a lot to be desired in terms of charging control, climate control, etc.
I would say an awesome charge curve would strongly suggest being software-restricted and top-limited, but an average or poor one might not be telling of the opposite as Rivian could artificially hinder the charge curve with part of their programming.
Posted this in @PeterD5548 ’s other thread, but this one has more traffic, so I’ll drop here as well:
It depends. If rivian limits the voltage at the top end, then yes. Charging to 100% on a software-limited large (large+…terrible name) would only be 3.9 or 4.0V per cell and would be similar...
It depends. If rivian limits the voltage at the top end, then yes. Charging to 100% on a software-limited large would only be 3.9 or 4.0V per cell and would be similar to 80% on a full max pack. Those voltages wouldn’t do any significant long term harm to the battery.
If they limit the...
I ordered tuxmat for my 2025 S and will see how they fit. It’s a different page than their 23-24 offering. Was between Tuxmat, linerx, and OEM.
will report back once I have them.
It’s a remnant from the 23 and 24 Gen 1s. That was large battery range on 21s before they shrunk the large. Technically you can still search for them in inventory, but not really much if any left in the shop.
Fair point, I believe it has to default to the drive mode it was EPA tested at, though not necessarily the most efficient depending on manufacturers’ choices as you allude to. Auto-start/stop features on ICE engines are a similar issue.
Mine will stay in high regen between drives. But I could...
Again, nobody made you buy right the second they came out before any info was available. You still could get one from the shop today and get your pre-price-hike discount. The day of the Gen 2 release there were video reviews on YouTube showing how the roof worked.
Pre-reservations still haven’t expired, correct? One could still pick any number of vehicles from the shop. Choosing from the shop doesn’t prevent you from reviewing the details of the option in the configurator, this website, YouTube, or in person.
